I remember going to the central league games early 60s when I was a kid, they had all of the stadium open 63,000 capacity for a reserve match. Also remember the bloke going up the steps into the old scoreboard every 15 minutes to give us the latest score from the first teams away game, don't forget no local radio stations in those days news was hard to come by.My (much) older brother tells me that our dad bought him a season ticket for City as a present when he was nobbut a lad. This gave him access to all home league games plus all central League games (when the reserves played at Maine Rd when the first team were away). It was just before the war. It cost......ten shillings (50p). Ten bob was then, of course a fifth or a sixth of a working man's weekly wage. Still seems good value, though.
I assume he is telling the truth. I think he is.
