When we were crap....your favourite matches

Beating Liverpool 1-0 at Maine Road on Boxing Day 1985. It was my first ever game. They battered us for 90 minutes but we nicked the points thanks to a Clive Wilson goal.
Never heard a crowd baying for the ref to blow the whistle to end a game louder than this ever since..... Dalgliesh came on with 10 or so mins to go. Think he hit the bar..... Amazing atmosphere / relief at the end.

Yeah I was there. Looked a normal injury at first and then I remember seeing his legs convulsing and the whole crowd screaming for a doctor to get on the pitch. Really strange atmosphere after that and poor half ended 0 0.

There was an announcement at half time that he was ok abd it then settled to a normal game. Pretty sure Morley got a hat trick in the second half and everyone was shocked as he was the crowds booo boy at the time.

If I remember correctly didn’t the club doctor take ages to get onto the pitch
because he was in the stand not on the bench (the days when we used to be locked in !! ).

I remember thinking he was convulsing so much he was going to die. Seemed to go on for ages.
Paul Lake is a legend !!

He was sat with Swales in the directors box. After that he was sat on the bench.

Some of my faves are strange ones

City 0 Sheff Utd 0, 2006 (I think), Joe Harts debut. worst game of football I have ever seen, but it was the first time I could afford to take my lad to a game.

City v QPR 1990 (2-1) - was one of my first games after moving from sweatysockland.

City v Fulham - 2-0 up at Half time...if they didn't score 3 Fulham would be relegated on that day....70 minutes it was still 2-0 and we lost 2-3. Fulham ended up staying up on goal difference by the end of the season.

City 4 Wycombe 0 -I had the flu, proper knocked out flu but the Kippax lower teir hadn't long been opened and I had a freebie for this. Sat in the Kippax in a block pretty much alone except one mate.

Watford at home 82/83 and a 1-0 win is one of my favourite matches.
A newly promoted Watford turned out to be a great team but we were handling them.
I was concerned until we scored and I thought that would put them in their place. It didn’t.

Then disaster. Corrigan is injured and Bobby Mac thinks it’s a good idea to go in goal.

The anxiety levels went up a few notches after that.
the memory of this game is fading now we have achieved so much in recent years.
I held this game as one of my best for 25 years

Great call, I remember the referee holding his hand up to stop McD running round his area with the ball as the steps rule had just come in.
