Where have all the Insects gone ?

Neighbour has some and you also can’t walk barefoot on them in summer over here as it burns your feet.
Have them front & back in the house we moved into. I'd have not put them down but already here.

They do get warm but a quick weed killer spray and a stuff brush a few days later and it's like looking at the Etihad.

It's also fantastic not to have to repair, mow, get rid of cuttings etc. leaves more time for sitting & drinking too.

Same problems here. My old waste food bin had the corner chipped off of it and it led to a population explosion. I've replaced the bin but I'm currently swatting green flies by the gross.
I accept that flies will be attracted by rubbish etc.
That's a given.
To return to the general point raise.for example..when was the last time you saw a Stag Beetle,a centipede,woodlouse...these 3 were all multiple daily sightings for me as a kid in the 70s....

Think they have gone to the swamp due the stink. I always told my kids that that horrible smell of shite you get as you go across Barton Bridge was from old trafford

Plenty of bee activity on my jasmine this year. They're on it all day, none stop, great to see.
Not seen as many ladybirds as usual, but there's been plenty of butterflys. Hardly any wasps.
I've noticed over the years that you get good years and bad years for any given species, but overall it tends to average itself out.
This year I've had hardly any hedgehogs, but more squirrels than usual.
I still see plenty of birds of prey working the fields, I just wish they'd eat more pigeon, there's fucking hundreds of em this year.

That's the thing...do dragonflies eat anything whilst they are alive. I have a few dragonfly larvae in the pond and they are voracious bastards and eat almost everything, they look almost prehistoric, the species are hundreds of millions of year old though....... I clear a few out to save my newt population.
According to Google they can eat their own body weight in insects every 30 mins !
