Where is Michael Johnson?

I had a chat with Mike Summerbee at Eastlands a week before Xmas. He was very open with his thoughts on a number of players as I was with an ex City colleague of his who is a family member of mine. His view on Johnson is that 'he is finished at City!!' The club have apparently accepted the fact that they cannot change his attitude. The plan is to get him back to fitness and accept an offer in the summer.

Like me, Mike is saddened by this given the potential he displayed in the first half of last season. However, it was refreshing to hear the truth for once!!

For the record his view on others was;

Richards - has put on too much muscle and lost his focus
Dunne - will get his form back
Robinho - didn't want to come but is now making more positive noises
Elano - has an attitude problem
Sturridge - lazy!! (Didn't look it yesterday though from where I was sitting 3 rows behind the goal!!)
Vassell - not good enough (You don't say!)
Benjani - not good enough
Jo - give him time but he expects him to go on loan in January

Happy new year blues!!

Happy New Year - Did Mike have a good word for anybody then?

One side of my brain feels sorry for Johnson. The other side thinks 'what a fucking idiot'.

Absolutely brilliant player when he's on his game.

I hope Mr Summerbee is not our motivational coach, though it may explain some of our performances this season.

With regard to Johnson I agree with Blumers point. If his lifestyle is so bad as some say why has he been given a lucrative new contract?

Probably because Hughes had just come in and didn't know much about it. The penny has dropped I think, but it's too late

Should do a blood booze test every morning and evening give him time to reduce then stop,2 months then sack him..we loose a bit of cash[like we need it]but send out a message to all players that enjoying yourself is fine but dont screw up your fitness[Its your job]

If it's true his dad banned him from drinking and eating fast food for years this is probably the fall out from that: he's bingeing to make up on lost time!

The club should not be 'giving up' on him just yet and I reckon it's a long long way from that. Look how much slack Barton got. I'd expect a fine and a public kick up the arse before 'giving up' , so I don't reckon he's done just yet.

I had indirect dealing with his father when he was at Flixton many years ago, his dad was very passionate about Michaels development (part of the reason why he took him away from Flixton to set up another team) which makes it all the more suprising that he's acting like this now...

How do people know this kinda stuff? (Not saying you're wrong btw, just wondering)

Don't want to stir up any shit here but Mike Summerbee's opinion on the players is no more valid or insightful than any of ours. If he's that free and easy with regards to slagging off our players perhaps he should just keep his mouth shut and show some class.

This

Imagine the field day we'd have if Bobby Charlton started telling blokes in the street that Berbatov was 'lazy' or that Ferdinand needed a slap, we'd be pissing ourselves. It's just fucking embarrassing more than anything.

Buzzer has more than earned the right to say whatever the fuck he wants about out players. If some of the current lot showed an ounce of his passion and love for Manchester City, we may not be sitting two points from the relegation zone.

I dont see how him slagging our players off to all and sundry can really help anyone to be honest. He may have been part of a succesful team but I'm not interested in history, it's our future I care about!

He's a fan the same as you and me, and that's what gives him the right.

see if this is true is dosnt make sense why the club tried so hard to help barton with his off field troubles and gave him so many chances.

from what ive heard johnno hasnt acted half as bad yet were not even going to attempt to help the lad....for me sending him to another club could make his drinking etc even worst, especially if a london club like tottenham or arsenal wanted him

He has more responsibility than us mere 'fans' though and should learn to keep his gob shut in my opinion.

Barton always performed on the pitch regardless of his twatish behaviour off it.
