Where were you on Sunday 30th May 1999 (Gillingham play off game?)

Was in the ‘posh’ bit next to the press area on the half way line with my wolves supporting mate (my mates dad is/was a journo) and had passes in the players lounge after. About 50/50 city-Gills split. Went from feeling like dying to utter manic elation in minutes. Didn’t flinch when Horlock scored but ended up about 5 rows in front after. As an autistic I don’t show emotion accept for then and Sergio’s winner. Extra time is a blur and the pens were the most stressful things ever in my life. My mind might be playing tricks but I’m pretty sure Liam Gallagher was going mad in the hospitality box above us, banging on the window. Can’t remember much about afterwards, except the players looking shattered and the size of Big Joe’s head

Was right under Liam and thought he must go through glass

Was there till the end with a good mate. I remember being emotionally drained after the game. Was expecting our train carriage to be raucous on way back to Manchester but was just full of emotionally exhausted blues like me

Superb memories - typical city. Went to Wembley feeling convinced we’d win ….. what a downer. But only made the ending more special!!

I could not get down to Wembley, so I was choosing a new 26" CRT Colour TV in Curry's in Blackburn (which weighed a ton.)

I can remember all the customers and staff glued to the plethora of TV screens at the end of the game.

Had just spent the weekend at a Scout Camp, 11 years old.

Managed to go round to a friends to watch the game as they had Sky Sports, they were a mix household of United/Stockport and City fans (the dad played for Stockport County but was a big blue)

Just glad we managed to get through it in the end!!

Wembley....until the end.

I travelled down on the coach with my mate and his Dad and 2 brothers.

My mate and his Dad were in the olympic gallery, we were on the back row in line with 18 yard box.

I remember when Gillingham scored, we couldn't hear their fans cheering, just jumping up and down. It was weird.

When the 2nd Gillingham goal went in, the older of the brothers said 'This is shit, lets go!', I said ' What's the point, we'll only be sat on the coach for ages. Anyway. there's time left, we can still do this."

Some lads on the row in front turned around and laughed at me.

When the equalizer went in, it seemed like everything happened in slow motion, but the lads in front turned around and looked at me. I just shrugged my shoulders as if to say 'I knew it'. Then absolute bedlam.

The noise from the City fans was epic, especially during the penalties.

All I remember from the journey home was that everyone was drained, physically & emotionally. No real celebration, just relief I think.

My one and only time Ive left a game early....walking down Wembley way dreading another season of being everyones cup final when thousands of fellow blues started running back screaming dickovs equalised !...managed to get back in for extra time and penalties....afterwards ended up drinking around trafalgar square with thousands of other blues dancing in the fountains......missed the last train home , walked the streets for what seemed like hours looking for a B and B and jibbed the train home the day after.....in a way although gutted I missed the late drama Im glad I was taught that lesson of leaving early as I coudve missed the Aguero moment and possibly more

Left Wembley (4 of us…..I was driving) after their 2nd went in, heard a MAMMOTH roar as I turned onto Wembley Way said to the Mrs. thinking Gillingham had been promoted ‘that’s us fucked for another season’. Fellow blue ran up to to me with phone in hand (with telescopic aerial) grabbed me by the scruff of the neck shouting ‘we’ve just fucking equalised get the fuck back in!!!!!’

Managed to get back in with about 8000 others watched the drama unfold and made it back to Shere Khan for about 10pm. Celebrated with the other 3 completely bewildered.

My Dad had an afternoon nap at home and fell asleep at 0-2. His neighbour told him later that night we’d won! Mad day all round.
