Where were you on Sunday 30th May 1999 (Gillingham play off game?)

Wembley. Went down on the Saturday stayed at a lad’s flat we knew in Highgate and spent a raucous Sat night in the Winchester pub singing City songs all night. Was a bit rough for the match but powered on through like a trooper!

Couldn't get to Wembley, long story. Watched the game in the Dragon in Whitefield, amazing day, never to be forgotten.
Glad I managed to get to Ewood a year later.. special memories.

Wembley.

Me and my dad had two tickets in the lower tier behind the net, however sold them to my mums cousin as my uncle managed to get us tickets in what was the second tier in those days on the front row.

When my dad picked up the tickets from my uncles contact at the ticket office, he asked who my dad was taking to which the reply was his son, the guy at the ticket off said, well if he likes oasis tell him to take his album covers to get signed as your going to be sat next to Noel Gallagher.

I was 18 at the time and thought I knew better and took nothing with me. Not even a camera.

Anyway, turns out the two he got us were with all the VIPs. Sat to my right were Noel Gallagher, Goldie and Keith Allen. Curly Watts to my left and some guy from Eastenders behind us. Can’t remember his name.

Noel and his crew left at 2-0 down, I would have followed if he hadn’t been for my dad insisting we see it out to the end.

Noel soon came rushing back in.

Great day and memories. Actually found my ticket signed by Noel the other day.

At Wembley with my Dad, crying in the stand when Dickov equalised as my 14 year old brain had never had to deal with such a flip of emotions in such a short space of time!

I was here, in Canada, trying my best to keep up on all things City.
I do know that about two weeks later I received copies of the local papers from my mate and I still have them.

RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus... I got thrown out of the house when Gillingham scored the second (because I shouted "Bollocks" really loudly with the patio doors open) and biked down to the nearest NAAFI bar (The Peninsular Club) to watch the rest of the game... Went home a few Keo's later and all was well in the household ;-)

Wembly of course.

2 brothers,daughter & long time mates.

All there at the end....shattered and elated !!

Wembley. Did walk out on 88 mins but didn't get very far. Forever grateful to a blue who came crashing though a fire exit of what I presume was a conference suite and launched a bottle at the wall. Looking inside there were a smattering of blues, a telly but crucially a bar, I really needed a drink. Stood at the bar Kev scores but still not feeling it, can't watch just looking at my beer moping waiting for the inevitable. Think it was the "go on" as the ball dropped to the Goat that drew me back in just in time to see the goal. Cue a minute of mayhem, a surreal pause and then a mass stampede back out of the fire door and back up the steps. There were plenty of others doing the same.

Im so ashamed i was the only city fan not there.Everybody els was

No worries, you'll always have York away ;)

Don't assume it. He needs to be interrogated on that. The misdemeanour of missing Wembley is one thing, but to have not been present at either calls for a life banning from this forum, because he would clearly be a dipper who's infiltrated it.

At Wembley. Spat me dummy out at 0-2 and headed for the exit. Heard about Super Kev's "consolation" whilst walking down Wembley Way towards Wembley Central. When it was followed by a large cheer people though it was the final whistle! Made it back to my seat a couple of minutes into extra-time and the rest, as they say, is history (and a lesson learnt).

Booked a holiday to Tunisia the Monday after York away.

The game was on I think Sky sports 2 which wasn't available anywhere that I could find.

Ended up with updates from a girl who lived in Gillingham via her phone. She fucked off from the pool at 2-2.

As everyone I knew who would know the score was at the game, it was a out 23.00 before I found out.

Oh and I was offered a shag by her in the bar later as we were all a bit pissed on All-inclusive......if only Mrs Moon wasn't with me, who knows?

Wembley with my old man who left at 0-2 but made it back in for extra time. Thank fuck I stayed and witnessed a major part of our history.

Got home in the early hours to watch the match highlights my mum had recorded on Sky. To this day, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day always reminds me of the game as it used in the closing titles.
