Where were you on Sunday 30th May 1999 (Gillingham play off game?)

on the couch with a heartbroken 7 year old, I think she learned to swear that day, to her eternal credit, she stopped me switching off at 2-0, more in hope than expectation

We were there for the whole game … Spoofed corporate hospitality and were two tables away from some guys from Burnage - called themselves Oasis

There were four of us sharing a table with a young couple …. when the game was finally over the waiter brought them a bottle of champagne …. the guy looked at his lady and asked “how did you know we were going to win” to which she replied

“I didn’t but I do know you are going to be a dad”

Nice ending to an amazing day out.

Had been at a big family get together deep in west Wales the previous night. Drove to Sheffield with my brother (Forest fan- long story) to watch the game at his house. Saw the match with him and his next door neighbour, a blades fan.
They both said that when it went to 2-0 neither of them could look at me. Just stared ahead.
Kev’s goal looked like a consolation - bit like Edin’s. But Dickov’s made me explode. The single most important goal in City history, as far as I am concerned. And his celebration rain soaked, closed eyes roar still gives me goosebumps.
Watched the penalties from the kitchen door.

I was on shift at the Duchess of Kent Military Hospital in Catterick, North Yorkshire. My friend recorded it. I didn't know who had won before I watched it as I told her not to tell me. The massive low i felt turned rapidly into crazy celebration as we won the shoot out. Will never forget that day for as long as I live.

17th fairway at Reddish Vale Golf Club (probably more likely right hand rough tbh). I’d been working Saturday’s for the previous 20 years so had no chance of a ticket. My mate asked me to play in their Invitation Day and I said ok as long as we tee off at 2 pm cos I can’t bear to watch it on TV. Just remember this lad with headphones on running down the 16th hole cheering and telling me we’d won. Has no idea of the drama that had unfolded cos he told me the penalty score so I thought we’d won comfortably!

A pub in Bury (The Peel on Rochdale Road).
One of the lads I was with went to the toilets just before Dickov scored and said he could hear me screaming when we equalized ;-)

The Waterside Bar in Howth Harbour.
Back after a dive.(scuba).
The club usually went in there for lunch after.
Myself and the missus were the only two of the club, left watching what unfolded.
I went mental. Didn’t care who was watching.

Eight of us in a limo. Loaded up with booze and whizz. Great day out but couldn't do it now. We'd never make it past Sandbach with the amount of toilet breaks we'd need.
Me and almost everyone else on our 2 double decker buses were leathered before getting on. Shitfaced by Brum but proper fast kept us going. Monster weekend.

Carcassonne airport after a debauched week in Lloret to watch the CL final. You were two down when I jumped on the plane and had won by the time I landed. Normally I'd have been pissed off but was still buzzing from the previous Wednesday so decided to let it slide.

In the Olympic gallery at Wembley. A great view. This was about 10 rows of seats which seem to be built into the roof and gave a great view of all the pitch.
