Where were you when we were sh*t?

Born in 91, first went in 94, season ticket in 96 - been to every league home game since (bar 4) and been to around 40/50 aways.

So in answer to your question, yes,

I was here when we were shit.

front row of the family stand at maine road, and seem to have been sat all over the place since we've been at eastlands, wish theyd stop moving me ffs

Platt Lane when they had benches. Windy Corner in the Kippax to next to the away cage.

To behind Helen's bell when the Kippax went to North Stand then on to the R Block at back of North Stand to 216 Etihad.

And I'll still be there when we're sh't again. I remember being able to sit and watch football sitting on the terrace in the Kippax. Those were the bad times, but I loved it. Made last season so sweet. We're not going back!

I was on the Mekong Delta in some river or other but I can't remember whether I was going north or south because apparently it changes every 6 months.

The Kippax from 1982 (the start of the decline for the club) including when we went down in 1983, and then for subsequent promotions and relegation's throughout the mid to late 80's.

Family stand for all of the 1990's, NB I didn't go to York.

Kippax (sitting) early 2000's.

And now the East Stand since the new stadium.

That briefly sums up the last 30 years of my support.

It really just needs a banner done with 'Man City v Blackpool August 8th 1998 Division 2 [ old division 3] Attendance: 32.134 sold out to capacity.'That should shut the fuckers up!

Great Idea. Get it sorted City! I could attach our two season tickets for that season to it. Got to find a spiritual home for them somewhere!

It get's asked every week.

I was on the Kippax. Left hand side near away fans in the 70's.
Right side Windy corner later on. Between the North Stand and the Kippax

I still have a few old KIPPAX STAND membership/ID cards from when they started which I picked up from main reception at Maine Road. I had to take proof of who I was if I remember right

I also have my AWAY travel club membership card from 89/90/91 I think.

Later years I was a season ticket/book holder in AA lower after the Kippax was knocked down.

I went home and some away in old division 3. Even to Bournemouth. Not York though.

I've had a season card for every year at our new ground.

Thought away fans would like to know.

We were all here when we were shit.

so shut the fuck up you twats.

good post.

i've seen some shit in my time (1965) call it blind faith or sheer madness but i still proper buzz going to city. any comp, any era, any team.

ps.
i know there is a thread but just a quick thanks to john bond, that cup run was sheer joy. r.i.p.

Dad used to take me as a kid which I dont remember much about. Started going regular aged 10-11 in the 90/91 season and been going pretty much ever since. Went to quite alot of aways probably between 1996 and 2000 when we were really shit !! So I think I actually went more when we were shit than what I do now !!

Who cares.. Why should people feel the need to explain themselves for supporting the club? If you’re a fan of the club people should be happy of the new found support and cash it will bring with it.

I used to go with my childminder to watch city when I was 8 or 9 years old, then moved away from the area (since moved back to Manchester with work). I never really followed football in my life. Last year I went travelling around South East Asia with my girlfriend who is an avid Liverpool fan. Since they don’t have the stupid sky monopoly I ended up watching pretty much all the City and Liverpool games and loved it. On my return i’ve been to games and watched the rest on sky. So yeah it’s a coincidence I got into football the same year that City won the Premier league and I don’t half get stick for it but.. I don’t care. I’ve found something I really enjoy. City were the team I was brought up to support even if they hadn’t won I’d still be watching it and still enjoying it.

I can sort of understand why some of the older generation would be resentful. They’ve supported City though think and thin and now the moneys come along with the trophies a load more new people have jumped on board. Be thankful not resentful it’s a my happier way to be.

Somewhere standing on the Kippax. Likely looking depressed. I never enjoyed being a shit club at all like most here did/do.

I doubt any of us actually enjoyed it so to speak,we just made the best of it and had a laugh. It does make the good times taste all the sweeter now though,i just wish the bad times hadn't lasted so long!

Agreed.

Lets be honest, we were proper shite under Sven and Clueless as well. Maybe not to the same extent as york away etc but still. What was worse was under those two we actually hoped to do well, making our shiteness even more unbearable. I actually enjoyed it when Keegan was in charge (despite being pretty young), much much better than psycho.

im 21 now so iv had to put up with some pritty grim times and some play ground banter to suit!! i wouldnt change anything thats happen for any premierleague title, its made us city fans what we are today!!

I was one of the 3,000 to witness our defeat to Mansfield in the auto windscreen trophy, only the Kippax lower was open.
