Where were you when...

On my way to Disneyland Paris when heard on the radio that Joe Royle had been sacked. On the way back a few days later waiting for luggage at Manchester Airport when a guy told me Kevin Keegan had been appointed. Had misgivings at the time but at least we had that great season winning Div 1.
The other time was in Portugal just after Thaksin's takeover, buying a paper to see a photo of Sven with our 4 new signings (Elano,Petrov, Bojinov & Corluka). Wow - that was off the scale for us Blues at that time. Little did we know that a mega rich Sheikh was waiting just a little bit further down the road..............

I was at the Britannia in Stoke - early '99 - on the night our reserves drew 0-0 and my mate asked joe Royle if we'd get promoted.

Joe assured us we would. He was right, of course, but only just

;-)

Day of takeover was playing golf at Romiley gc when a greenkeeper pulled up and asked if any of us were blues, He said we were now the richest club in the world and we had just bought Berbatov,
on parr with 911 that news.

I purchased a copy of the Daily Mirror in Florida - that was a couple of days old - it said we were getting George Graham - flew back to blighty to the Brian Who headlines. Mate picked me up at Ringway in a stolen car!

Where were you when we announced the appointment of Alan Ball and signing of Kinkladze?.

I was having a dirty weekend in Blackpool, with an ex girlfriend.
I got a call at work from a Stoke fan who said "he's a xxnt, you'll go down"

Oh how I laughed at his doom and gloom prediction.

Where were you when......

Dennis Law back heeled in 1974?

I was very fortunate to be there and witness the pitch invasion and the greatest relegation ever. I dream of a repeat in my lifetime.
I was at the Saturday kids matinee watching the three stooges, but remember my Dad telling me all about it when I got home.

Where were you ...... when City beat Scunthorpe 8-1 at Maine Road ... Maybe a hat trick each for Jimmy Murray and Derek Kevan ... maybe it was December 1964 or some such time .... a few days later we beat them 4-2 at their place on or about Boxing Day

I could say happy days but the best was yet to come

Cheers
