Where were you when...

I was in a service station en route to Cardiff when it was announced that Franny Lee had taken over.
We lost and it was pissing down. Us away fans were in an open end when all three home stands were covered.

Nov 96. I'd just nipped into a sandwich shop in Wilmslow, got back in the van and this rag I had to work with was sat there with a big grin on his face saying that Coppell had quit (after 33 fuckin days) and Phil Neal was caretaker manager.
i really thought he was on the wind up till he put the radio on. I couldn't fucking believe it. If things hadn't been awful before it was apocalyptic now.

The fat **** just sat there laughing his head off all the way home saying what a joke we were.
He was right of course. I had no comeback. I couldn't even muster a pathetic "you're club's not even in Manchester".

I bump into him from time to time now. He never stops long to talk though.

Funny that. :)

Where were you when......

Dennis Law back heeled in 1974?

I was very fortunate to be there and witness the pitch invasion and the greatest relegation ever. I dream of a repeat in my lifetime.

Weird to read this in these days with the joe hart thing. Law played in Torino for one season in the early 60s and here he is still remembered as a great player. He came with another british, Joe Baker (less skilled) and one night they crashed the car cause they were drunk...because of that they became the stereotype of the british people too much used to alcohol.
I signed today to post in the joe hart's topic and then I discovered this section of the forum that is really the most interesting. It's so important to never forget from where we come from. Cheers.

Rip Ninian Park, what a great old shitty ground that was! :-)

i was there that day as a rather scared 20yr old kid who was in the home end but wanted the away team to win! On the plus side though, i stayed dry.

I was almost in line with curles disallowed goal and he was never bloody offside in a million years.
