Where Would The Best US Major League Soccer Team Place If Competing In The Premiere League?

I think this is correct. I've been to a few Oakland Roots matches and the support base is strong, the tickets cheap, shoehorned into a stadium not fit for purpose but no one cares -- it's a ton of fun -- probably no surprise given the abandonment of Oakland by the NFL (TWICE), the NHL, the NBA and, now it appears, MLB. You can't even get tickets to Sacramento Republic -- their fans are crazed. A lot of the joy of the lower leagues in the UK and I'd argue more based on the handful of League One matches I've been to which haven't been libraries but have been quieter by comparison.

I will say this -- Portland Timbers have a real support base as do Seattle Sounders. That's a real rivalry. The Atlanta side does too. And I'm sure others as well.

But for MLS generally -- my GOD -- the drums. The motherfucking, shit-ass drums. They never stop. They are close to worse than the vuvuzuealas or whatever those awful things were called. Where are the songs? Where is the banter? Why the fuck are there DRUMS? It's horrifying.
Honestly you don't wanna hear their songs. We want to WIN, WIN, WIN! Go Sports!

I found a couple of articles in the Merkin sports press that have posed the question. This one from ESPN is a load of old moody, arguing that the US closed league cartel system is better because it’s more “stable” (translation - a regular, low risk guaranteed income stream for owners/investors).

In between all this nonsense the writer did find time to take the piss out of the rags, so he’s not all bad.

The current structure of European soccer is seemingly held together by gum and oil money. Other than Manchester United, the richest teams always win, while everyone else lives in a yearly state of precarity.

They’d struggle to win the SPL, relegation certs in EPL.

I think one of the best would win it. Let’s face it, your league is only as good because of cash. That’s it. No mystery. No magic, no English factor, money. It would be an awful indictment if it wasn’t. I have Sky and if I watch four games not involving City, it’s a record year. It ain’t that good. It really isn’t. I wish you got charged what you watch, the cunts would owe me money.
Are you saying the best MLS team could win the PL?

If not, that juicy worm is strong bait.

If so, you need to go back on your meds!

There are ZERO MLS teams that could lay a glove on nearly every team in the PL and Championship. The English game is stronger and faster, not to mention technically years ahead of most MLS teams. There’s a reason the MLS is where half-decent players want to go to retire, and it ain’t because it’s faster and stronger and more competitive!
