Which country do you hate most in the World Cup?

This thread has just reminded me of how many Sun readers we have on this forum. As for the Germans being arrogant.......Christ you couldn't make that up coming from an England fan! As for cheating, I agree that it's abhorrent, but it's a bit rich from someone who supports a team who have profited in two World Cups with Michael Owens diving. I think hate is too strong a word. Hopefully the best footballing team will win, and without having to resort to diving, or play acting or any of that crap, and for everyone on here, it's not just the Portugese who dive, or the French who cheat, or the Germans who are arrogant!

Yes, I'm a Jock.

And if anyone did manage to win it on that criteria then they would get my vote malg. Can't see it though can you?
Unfortunately Barry I think the days of teams winning without resorting to cheating are long gone. I think the rise of the Champions League and the influx of overseas players to the Prem has meant that all the home grown players now 'play act'. Pretty sad state of affairs. Mind you, I was heartened slightly by the two refereeing performances yesterday, and the ref who done the France v Uruguay game was excellent, so maybe there is some hope.

I do love the way certain people on this board like to some up a country by the actions of few idiots. I remember wearing a German top to a boozer near Maine Road and some City fans weren't happy and came over and said as much. After a few heated exchanged words I turned round and showed them 'Rosler 28' on the back. They then thought it was funny. Should I hate all City fans?

The country I don't want to win is France. My reasons for this are the fact that half of the best French players over the last few years weren't even Fench. They drained the best talent from Africa by setting up those soccer academies and getting the likes of Vieria etc playing for France when they are about as French as me.

This article touches the surface

That article is bullshit! Why on earth should the likes of Patrick Vieria opt to play for his native country when he developed his football skills in france as well moving there as a young chile, Makelele moved when he was 4, why the fuck should he play for DR Congo, because he was born there and his parents are Congolese? I'm sure he would much rather play for the country which gave him a chance to hone his skills and mould him into one of the greatest defensive midfielders of all time! Gosh what a silly article.

Funnilly enough i commented on that after the games last night. I thought the SA V Mexico ref was excellent. The disallowed goal was a cracking decision, proved me wrong when i saw the replay and i thought all the cards were justified more or less.

You're Scotch with a clouded and bitter outlook on players such as Joe Hart, Gareth Barry, Shaun Wright-Phillips and many many of your fellow City fans who are Mancunian-English!

Take yourself away from your own backwards, Sun reader, generalisations because don't forget that City are from Manchester, ENGLAND! and I am very proud of Manchester being in the great North of England and that City represent England as a club side! You're views of me and my countrymen (especially when in my previous post I backed the Scots!) and you're fellow City fans are just sad!

This with refs concerning swearing,i wish / hope its brought into the premiership,i know it can slip out fcukoff etc,but when you lip read sometimes they are calling the ref / linesman a cheating c..t,a red card everytime would put a swift end to it.

I think we've all said this for years, but it's never going to happen. Especially when we have managers stating that it will take away from a players game. I remember some tit on Talkshite saying that footballers had more passion than rugby players, hence their worse behaviour towards officials! My God, imagine telling Martin Johnson that he wasn't as passionate about his sport than Rooney.....

-- Sat Jun 12, 2010 11:35 am --

Jesus Christ, you bitter sod! I am proud of being brought up in Manchester, and would never, ever have a bitter outlook on a City player, regardless of which shirt he pulls on. I will be behind every single City player who pulls on an England shirt, but only the player, not the team. However, I will certainly not be supporting England, as I'm a jock. This world cup is going to be slightly different for me, as there are City players involved, and I personally can't remember (in my lifetime) the last time we had such interest.

Your arrogance is heartening. Go and put a few more flags on your car!

No I'm not basing it on wars but the Germany and Argy rivalries are definately contributed to with the history of wars with them, even if not intentionally they definately add to the aura of the rivalry!

Even tho Scotland are our allies now, we had hundreds of years of battles with them!

I also did explain why I hated Portugal!

You did mate, can't see how you can ever vote Portugal ahead of France though, but that's down to opinions. And if we're playing the diving ticket Rooney and Gerrard are master craftsmen at it, and as previously pointed out Owen used to go down quicker than a $20 whore.

I can see where you're coming from with Gerrard, he used to be by far my fav player but he took out the over the ball tackles from early in his career and relplaced it with divng like a c'unt! But we're nowhere near the levels of other nations where at every opprtunity all 11 players from Portugal will roll around on the floor like theyve been shot by a sniper at the same time as being tazered, after not even being touched let alone fouled!

There's a fair point here. Although some of our home grown players have perfected diving and some play acting, it's only what you watch some of the Portuguese/Italians or even South Americans that you know we've still got a long, long, long way to go before anyone in an England shirt would be quite as embarrassing.

Deary me, what a sad bastard you are!

Where have I said anything bitter? Where have I said I expected you to support England? Where have I said anything arrogant?

Don't be such a child with your car-flags jibe! I haven't got any flags on my car and my point was that in your original post you moaned that everyone else in this thread had Sun infuelnced, generalised views but then came out with a statement as Sun-reader infuenced and generalised as anyone by saying England fans are arrogant!

As I say, sad!
