Which players are no longer good enough?

willy, zabba, fernando, yaya, bony, sterling, demi...

maybe fernandhino, navas, sagna.

We need LB / RB / 2 midfield / a winger that can beat players / 2 strikers / back up keeper..

I bet we end up with bout 60% of our wish list though because realistically players will stay for their wages and be even more useless than they have been this year !

Have you been watching City?

Fernando - improved and proved himself worthy for a place
Sterling - first season with us, and he's already 'not good enough'?
Fernandhino - our best central midfielder this season

2 strikers - Nacho proved he can play 2nd choice behind Aguero. 1 striker probably, 2 is too much.

Definitely Leaving:

Caballero
Wright
Demichelis
Yaya
Kolarov
Bony

Question marks:

Fernando (Unsuited to Peps football?)
Sagna (age, legs going soon?)
Zabba (age, legs gone)
Mangala (Unsuited to Peps football?)
Otamendi (Unsuited to Peps football?)
Silva (injuries catching up with him)
Kompany (injuries catching up with him)
Delph (Unsuited to Peps football?)

We obviously couldn't let all of the question marks go in one window so I would imagine only 1 or 2 would leave from this list

Some of the youth could fill in for the squad players that have had bit part roles, people like Garcia , Denayer and Gunn?

I would say we need 2 new full backs , 1 new centre back , 2 centre mids , 1 winger / wide forward as a minimum

Zabba (sadly), deffo Yaya,Bony, Demi, possibly Fernando although he's been better but technically not good enough. Question marks over Sterling because he's been poor with and without the ball. Sod the excuse its his first season with us, thats used for foreign players. Navas, hate to do this because he's the one player that gives his all every game but we just don't benefit from his attacking play. oh and of course Kolorov because for the life of me how he's playing at the top level is beyond my comprehension.

Never good enough for us:
Willy
Bony - Was excited at first, but just isn't good enough for this style (whatever that is) of football.
Delph - Maybe hasn't had a good enough go yet, but never got the feeling he could cope.
Kolarov - Utter shite attitude and utter shite ability.

Not good enough anymore:
Zabba - Suddenly looks really old.
Yaya - Legs have completely gone + can't be arsed.
Vinny - Only plays 5 games at a time before injury strikes. Maybe can start transitioning into a non-playing role at the club.
Demichelis - He's in retirement mode. Should've let him go to River Plate or wherever.

Good enough for a PL winning team but not good enough for European elite:
Nando - I really like how much he's improved, but he's still so limited in his passing ability.
Clichy - Been fantastic this season defensively. Will need someone who has more going forward. Should stay in the squad, though.
Nasri - Waiting to see if Pep can take him up another level.
Sagna - Has been awesome. But he's 33 and not the greatest going forward.
Mangala - Shown real improvement and hasn't been helped by having Kola the donkey ahead of him for stretches.
Otamendi - Yes I think he's good. At least good enough for a spot in the squad. Dives in way too much, but since Nando has come good, his partnership with Elia has been decent.
Sterling - I personally think we've seen enough to know he can be a world beater. Needs to improve his finishing and start taking on defenders more (like he did at Pool). Hope Pep can do the job.
Navas - End product is shite.

Good enough to contend for a spot in the starting Xi at Barca/Bayern/Real:
DeBruyne - Hope Pep teaches him how to put a tackle in, though.
Kun - No explanation needed.
Silva - Down year, but has enough to contribute in an elite team. Giving him the benefit of the doubt here.
Iheanacho - He'd be a squad player in the elite teams at this stage of his career but, he's going to be a star next year. Any team would love to have this lad.
Hart - Don't care what people say about his distribution and defending the near post. He's the best shot stopper in the world.

So we definitely need at least a new LB, 1 RB, 2 CBs (including Denayer), 2 CMs this window. Hope it can be done...might be hard to get the required quality if we miss out on CL.

De Bruyne - if he works in tight spaces as good as when he has space, gets a higher workrate and has less ball losses.
Kun - no. Have you seen how much Lewandowski or Suarez work for the teams? Have you seen his attitude?
Silva - maybe
Hart - not for Bayern and not for Barcelona because of his playstyle.

Fair enough.

Hart - It would be interesting to see if Pep can get him to fit that playing style. I'm being very biased here, but I think he can. Maybe we can get someone else to kick for him ;)

Kun - There have been several games where I have seen him motivated and tracking back+winning the ball. It seems like he's checked out for the year. I blame him, but I also blame Pellers for that. Pep will be able to get him to work more/smarter.

About Kun - he better does. Pep usually does not like strikers and always had problems with the number 9s.
It is about team oriented pressing. And he wants them to run where he wants them to run.

About Hart - Pep wants this extremely high defensive line because it is important for passing. That usually says that he needs a goalkeeper for the system who is not just a shotstopper but an additional field player.

It will be interesting to see who Guardiola rates from our squad and who he wants shut of. I think we might see transformations in some of our players next season, some that we are expecting to go could well stay and thrive under his system and it wouldn't surprise me to see one or two fan favourites shipped out. It should all make for an interesting and hopefully exciting Summer transfer window.

Interesting comment on our players. what do you think about our full backs under pep.? I always feel they get alot criticism, especially alot of unwarranted bashing of koralov, taking into account his penchant to push forward and support the attack, which I think is under pelligrini orders.

Zabba , Sagna, YAYA , MDM , Clichy , Kolorov, Delph , Bony, Navas and Fernando.

Kompany needs to replaced as captain and unfortunately for him will only be used as a back up under Pep to better manage his crocked legs.

Not sure if Silva will be featured heavily under Pep either.

Mangala its make or break next year.

Younger , fitter better skilled ( at their relative level of development as team players ) need to replace them and the sooner the better.

i was basing my opinion that some players in the squad were past it like because of the games we played at Newcastle and Southampton, no desire, no fight etc. so that was based on the 'second string' players.

after last night, its got into all of the squad, which makes me think that its more about Pellegrini than the players.

Players like Yaya, Silva, Kompany, Zabaleta, Nasri have all declined under Pellegrini, including age and injuries etc. But new players brought in like Sterling, Bony, Mangala, Otamendi, Fernando havent improved one jot either, having playing with 'better' players.

The bright sparks have been KDB and Kelechi, but even then, they get sabotaged by Pellegrini in the of where and when they play. Aguero and Hart have been and always been class players.

I still think some do need to go, primarily cos of age and some clear evidence of lack of effort. But I think a lot will be a lot better when Pellegrini isnt around to hinder them.

Yaya has never been the same since Mancini left.

Silva has have a bad season compared to his brilliant best.

Kompany, blighted by injuries, has never been truly happy about Pellegrini's defensive tactics.

Sterling, bought with potential in mind, hasnt improve one bit under Pellegrini.

Mangala and Otamendi, the potential is there to be great, but havent been taught or trained how to play the english game, just the european way.

Bony ........ .

Not saying get rid of these players, saying these guys will have a marked improved under Pep. Yaya is a concern with his age and fitness, but tbh, i was ready to see him go, but i would give him his last year under Pep, more as a squad player of his age and fitness, but he can be that Vieira player we once had, now.

Some do need to go. Kolarov, Sagna, Fernando (sorry, recently done ok, but overall very average), Bony (may do better under Pep, but is behind Kelechi now), Navas (suited for Europe, useless for bread and butter games), MDM is already being put out to pasteur and the farmer is loading his bolt gun.

... so i think about 5 will go and 5 come in .... who comes in depends if we finish in the top 4 .... which i'm not confident of now and will be watching the score lines of West Ham and The Scum more intently now in the last few games. fingers crossed.
