Which players are no longer good enough?

Demichelis, Zaba, Kolarov, Yaya, Delph, Fernando, Nasri, Bony and Navas are no longer good enough for us.

In fact, some never have been good enough.
Don't think we can dump nine in a single window. Demi, Kolorov, Zabba, Yaya and Bony are the most likely to go from your list. Nasri will also feel unsure. But I think Navas and Fernando will get another year and Delph may survive a bit longer because he is home grown. But I agree can't see any of these guys been around in a couple of years time.

Sport a Barca based paper suggests the following 11 are out the door and I could live with that.

Caballero
Wright
Zabaleta
Sagna
Demichelis
Clichy
Kolarov
Yaya
Fernando
Nasri
Bony

That would leave

.................Hart
Denayer...Mangala...Otamendi..Kompany
Fernandinho..Silva...de Bruyne...Delph
Sterling...Aguero..Iheanacho...Navas

Looking at that we desperately need a LB and a RB and a reserve goalkeeper
2 midfielders as Delph won't be a starter and there are queries re Silva's fitness.
How can we get shut of all our full backs in one window?

Will be here in 16-17:
Joe Hart (still a top keeper)
Bacary Sanga (Getting longer in the tooth, but would be great on the squad)
Raheem Sterling (better coaching/training will make a big impact with his talent. Plus he's English)
Samir Nasri (this year was a mess with his injury, but he's talented enough to make an impact on the squad)
Sergio Aguero (don't need to explain- rough couple games but he's world class)
Kevin De Bruyne (world class midfielder)
Fabian Delph (squad player, helps for the whole English thing, probably most action in Cap 1 and FA)
Eliaquim Mangala (similar to Sterling, just needs better coaching and time to develop his physical attributes)
David Silva (very solid central midfielder- knicked up a lot because he over played due to Nasri injury)
Gaël Clichy (he's a solid defender who does his job. starter/squad depending on who we bring in)
Fernandinho (one of the bright spots of the season, his national team made a mistake, which will benefit us)
Kelechi Iheanacho (could be one of the next "it" strikers. also Pep likes the 4:3:3 so we will need another player with his pace up front)

Won't be here:
Vincent Kompany (health issues, and age)
Fernando (linked to Serie A teams, his defending is solid, but his footwork isn't good enough to play at top level)
Pablo Zabaleta (linked also to Serie A teams, old and lost most of his pace)
Aleksander Kolarov (yea he's just terrible and doesnt give effort, Pep would never tolerate that)
Will Caballero (not that he's terrible or anything, but we will bring in someone better who can actually split time with Hart)
Wilfried Bony (yea...)
Jesus Navas (rumors he wants to go back to Spain, effort is always there, but skill just not even close to good enough, especially finishing)
MDM (retirement or back to south america for sure)
YaYa Toure (zero chance he stays, Pep and most fans want him long gone by May 16th)

Depends on who we can find:
Nicolas Otamendi (just can't see him being a starter, maybe a squad player, but he's too expensive to sit on the bench most weeks)

Interesting comment on our players. what do you think about our full backs under pep.? I always feel they get alot criticism, especially alot of unwarranted bashing of koralov, taking into account his penchant to push forward and support the attack, which I think is under pelligrini orders.

I do not have an opinion about them as I never really have watched them.

Surely Kompany has to go on the list. A legend and true leader but slowly becoming a liability with his injuries

Caballero, Zab :(, Demi, Mangala, Kolarov, Fernando, Delph, Yaya, Navas, Bony

Also I don't think Nasri will fit into Pep's pressing style.

Then we have grave doubts about the future of Vinny, and wonder if he will ever be able to play again without breaking down. It does remind me of Lakey's woes sadly.

Tempted to say add Mangala for me too, 25 years old and he's still making the same basic defensive errors.

Very difficult to predict. The kind of cull desired on here would go against what we've seen in recent windows, but given that Pep is expected to be here for three years, if we are to get back on track quickly, and he's to deliver the success we expect, then drastic surgery is required. Alas, the general bungling of the last couple of seasons does not inspire, so only Caballero, Wright, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Demichelis, and Toure to leave.

Unfortunately we have too much shit to shift in one window. We have bought some real crap.

Delph - not good enough
Mangala - not good enough
Clichy - not good enough
Navas - not good enough
Bony - not good enough
Yaya - finished. Been brilliant though.
Zabba - looks finished. Brilliant though
Mdemichelis - finished.
Kolarov - shite

I know Fernando has his critics but I thought he was superb today. It was great to see a super competitive City midfield. Fernando and Fernandinho worked well together with Navas and De Bruyne tucking in. We'd have beaten Arsenal comfortably with a bit of luck and if we had not had the Real madrid game in our legs. Iheanacho made a mess of it when he should have slipped Navas in and Aguero could easily have had a hattrick. City were a proper team today so the comments about a complete overhaul are wide of the mark. One good performance against a top 6 team is not good enough but I believe that City have been playing well below potential in the league eg Southampton away. I don't think it's a case of the players being poor.

We also have a couple of young players coming through like Roberts and Iheanacho who could have very big futures in the game.

Get rid of the ones with the bad attitudes first and foremost and the ones who are past their best, then only get rid of players based on talent once Pep has had a chance to look at them in training and see if they are capable of doing what he wants. There are so many players who were branded flops or terrible players just because one manager used them poorly, only for them to look like completely different players once someone different gets hold of them.

Can't disagree with any of that. Maybe clichy and navas can do as squad players next season

Your benchmark must be barcelona or bayern then. And they have some wrkmanlike players in their squad too. They are not all Messis and Robbens. You need squad players.

Demichelis Kolarov Fernando Clichy Mangala Sagna-ish Toure Navas, Bony, (1 more season and Sterling and Delph without improvement)
