This was in the Evening News a couple of years ago based on a very unscientific survey

Going off that map I'm deep in enemy territory in Heywood. Has some of the best blues in the world though!

I wonder what it's like in schools now?

Aguero, Silva, Toure, Hart versus Rooney and RVP. We must be winning that hands down
well in swinton my 9 year old is the only blue in the class , and on his football team.

That map gives a rough overall idea but is not completely accurate.

Tameside still has the highest proportion of City season ticket holders to population in the world.

Stockport still has the highest number of City fans who are season ticket holders.

Stockport and Tameside combined accounts for over 25% of season ticket holders in Greater Manchester (Trafford and Salford a similar sized area is 12%)

70% of season ticket holders are based in Greater Manchester with London and Leeds having the next highest concentrations of City Fans

United have more fans I would be certain in saying. And you would expect that given their sucess. The kids who dont have a dad or family member telling them who to support have largely plumped for the rags over the last 25 years I would say. The fans who just want to support the winning team and the biggest stars.

However, the tide is slowly turning I would say. My mate isnt into football but his two lads are. Both were rag fans until a couple of years ago when the youngest changed. Now the older one is on the turn and will wear both shirts.

That might not meet a lot of people definition of fans I suppose but it would take a sustained period of sucess to overtake their support of the glory hunter type fans. But it is happening

I never had Leeds as a hotbed for City fans, i know the filth have huge support in south Yorkshire esp in Barnsley and the environs possibly stemming from Tommy Taylor. We are always told that Leeds along with Newcastle is exclusively support for the home town club.

It is a strange anomaly. I can only presume it is due to Leeds being close by and therefore mancunians have moved their for work purposes.

And uni. I'm at uni over there and know a lot of City fans from Greater Manchester and Lancs.

I don't care and to be honest, worrying about it is imho a bit small time. Let the rags worry about it when in 10 years Manchester is 75% blue.
