Who is our best centre back? last 30 years

Keith Curle was a Rolls Royce of a footballer. So fast and assured on the ball. If he'd been better in the air he'd have been truly world-class.

If pointing ever becomes an Olympic Sport he would still be picked as England's Captain.

Mick McCarthy was very good centre back for us .
He was one of the main reason we went up in that 1984-85 season .
And we sold him for a profit .
Not something City have done right well in the past .

He had a great couple of seasons. Wouldnt say he was that assured on the ball though; he certainly looked it but you always knew where he was going to put the ball. Skip out of defence with it, lovely and calm, have a look around and a couple of points here and there, then spin it as far up the pitch as possible.
Redmond and Hendry for me anyway.

If we're limiting it to the last 30 years then there can only by 7 candidates:
Michael Demichelis,
Colin Hendry
Vincent Kompany
Joleon Lescott
Kolo Toure
Mick McCarthy
Richard Dunne

And that's the order they go in for me.
Vincent was my number 1. but 2012-13 AND 2014-15 mean he badly blows hot and cold.

Van Buyten was probably the best but 3 months here doesn't count as long enough...

1. Dave Watson. Simply massive and some header of the ball (remember his bullet header vs lpswich).

Where would Richard Dunne be in a top 10? How many times PotY at City? Sometimes clumsy, great in hoofing it and regularly scoring goals (ok, in to his own net). Easy to pair with any other centre back at City and lreland.
