Who is the Best All-Around Player England Has Ever Produced?

Its gotta be Dave Watson for me
closely followed by Colin Bell
Other notables would be: Gazza , Hoddle and Charlton
I would say in the future it could be foden

Depends what we mean by all rounder, surely
Watson started out as a centre forward at Notts county in the ,lower league before dropping back to centre half at a high level ..not sure if that qualifies him as an all rounder
I don't know enough about Charlton
Hoddle, imo, was technically brilliant, but tackling and heading not great, and there was always the criticism he would go missing in games...fantastic player though

Too young to have seen Colin Bell but my dad still gets misty eyed talking about him despite seeing some incredible players at City so I'm gonna pick him. Of the generation of footballers I've seen then sadly it's Gerrard or Rooney. Both were incredible and although predominantly known further forward up the pitch could be as good at centre half as Harry Maguire.

I'd rate them slightly ahead of Phil Foden as all rounders only because they are a bit more physical which you might want at centre back although it swings and roundabouts cos I think Phil would be a better full back then either of them. But Phil is hugely underated by most non City fans in my opinion. Next year if he plays central and stays fit then I'm expecting big things

John Stones is undoubtedly the best all round footballer in the current England team. He has technique, physicality and brains.

Although I have other favourites Yaya is probably is the best all rounder I've seen at City but again probably rubbish out wide

1st saw him as a teenager midweek on the tv playing right back for Liverpool in Europe.
On the sat he was at Maine rd playing left back v City...
A true all rounder with the ability to galvanize a whole team as he proved again and again.

There was a night game at Maine Road, I reckon in a January, where a young Gerrard switched to right back in the second half and was as good as anyone in the pitch.

He was a great player.

If the op had asked “who Britain has produced” then it’s John Charles for me.
If it’s just England then I’d either go for Bryan Robson or Wayne Rooney.
