Gascoigne wasn’t an all-rounder.Gazza for me.
A brilliant attacking midfielder, but nothing more.

Go to your room and think about your choices!errr...well for an all rounder... I hate to say it, but....Alan Ball. He was all over the pitch, could do everything, watch the 66 final again and watch ball, he did get man of the match, but people seem to forget that
I did think Bryan Robson.but couldn't stomach building an argument for him.ditto Steven Gerrard.
A sub for us in most of our big games.Nasri was our preferred option in the big games.I don't like saying this but have to give the lad his due. He may not be the best most versatile but he should be in the conversation.
That wasn't the question. As for versatility, Milner could essentially play anywhere on the pitch. Yes. He was considerably better at some than others but you could put him anywhere because of his work rate. I'm certain his lung capacity and heart's ability to pump blood is beyond even most professional athletes. Him running at a decent pace, constantly, helped his versatility.A sub for us in most of our big games.Nasri was our preferred option in the big games.
Not sure if Rooney could ever play centre half tbh.timing of tackles and precise reading of the game and a cool head are surely required..?As blues we will say colin bell but he wouldnt be first choice for a Lot of other fans
Unfortunately Rooney, the granny shagging fat headed fucker , would be up there. He coulda played centre back and done well.
Wish he’d come city. Id never have truly taken to him but he was top drawer
1st saw him as a teenager midweek on the tv playing right back for Liverpool in Europe.I think a lot of people are not mentioning Gerrard for the same reason.
He truly was a great all round player.
All about opinions and i think rooney (the twat) was top notch who with coaching would adapt to any positionNot sure if Rooney could ever play centre half tbh.timing of tackles and precise reading of the game and a cool head are surely required..?
Bell,by all accounts covered every blade grass, had outstanding stamina and could tackle head and dribble to a high standard this together with his goal scoring ,passing range with either foot ,outstanding professional approach to the game marks him as a better all rounder than Rooney.
Also Bell,at 18 years old was captain of Bury, albeit in the lower divisions, respected by his older team mates ,and highly influential,so much so that as soon as he left for City,Bury were relegated..
When I think off all rounders Rooney doesn't spring to mind
