Who is the player you have been most gutted about leaving city?

Gary Flitcroft. I'd been away for a week and after landing at Gatwick I saw a picture of him holding up a Blackburn shirt on someone's newspaper, I then knew we were preparing for relegation. (No emotional tie to him as a player like Bish but the message it sent).

Without a doubt-Garry Owen

That was when I realised, life as a City fan was going to be a challenge.

I started going just after we sold Rodney Marsh, so the first star player whom I can remember leaving was Dennis Tueart. That was a big disappointment because he was a huge favourite and still at his peak. Meanwhile, Allison selling not only the oft-mentioned Barnes and Owen but also Hartford and Watson in the summer of 1979 came as a shock. All four of those players were great favourites and should have stayed.

However, the one that stands out for me is Trevor Francis in 1982. When he was sold after being used in local media to sell season tickets, it seemed to signal that we were no longer able to compete with the top clubs (before then, you always felt that we had that ambition). And unfortunately that analysis proved to be correct. I was absolutely gutted.

Wasn't, happy when Tommy Caton ( RIP) left for Arsenal
Gutted when swp departed..
But probably most upset when Bernarbia hung his boots up..I'd just watched him in a pre season friendly at Mansfield Town,Keegan had made him captain..within mins of the final whistle he had gone!
Bizarre.

Franny Lee.

Total footballing genius who had been at City since I'd supported them and he leaves to win the title at another club.

SWP (first time) and De Jong.

Others such as Dunne, Hart, Richards etc made easier to take because it was right from a footballing perspective, but those two above still could been key players for us (SWP departure was obviously under different circumstances back then).
