Who misses the football special?

I remember going to Barnsley on the Special when the train was delayed due to a dead horse on the line! Got off around 20 mins into the game and 400 lads running to the ground to get in! Went on a few
That dead horse lives on, as Klopps Hair and Teeth will testify

Another story, mid 80s coming home from Everton train bricked window smashed freezing night and got stuffed 4-0,Linaker hat trick.

I've always had a talent for recognising significant English landmarks yet whenever I looked out of the window, I could never work out where the fuck we were, as we always seemed to travelling via disused goods lines.

For the 1-0 win at Millwall in 87 we somehow travelled direct from Stockport to New Cross Gate seemingly without even touching London

That was a lively night all round. Something like a dozen specials out of Victoria and I think they terminated at Edge Hill. Certainly some shitty station on the outskirts. Busses back to the station and pretty much every train ended up with air conditioning.

I remember Watford when the special caught fire in a siding before picking us up for the return journey
we all had to pile on the service train which was already rammed with rugby fans returning from Twickenham
Just thinking about that when I clicked this thread

I remember an Everton special pulling into Crewe on a opposite platform, a little firm of them came over the bridge to our special trains platform so I went to the end of the train as we were slowly pulling away with a full can and launched it a the kid at the front of them from the train door window smashing him full in the face. I walked back up the train to my pals feeling ten foot tall, probably the highlight of my life
Did he weigh the can in

Been on many since about 78. Was wondering though when was our last one. I remember going to Port Vale away, 1999 now ive checked. Granville scored the winner and we were behind the goal. 4 of us were right near the back of the queue, few tinnies luckily. The coppers put us in a caged mail carriage with no seats cos the train was full and we weren't happy about being told there was no room at the inn. So sat on wooden floor with cans of beer. No hardship, quite normal back then. loved the special. Shame my lads only know the sanitised version of following our team all over the country. Wouldnt swap my memories for all the tea in china.

Pompey away 1985 what a day and journey that was!!
I remember being held on the a bridge as Pompey chucked rocks at us. When we got back on the train we were discussing the amount of stuff being thrown, my mate said, the lad Infront of him got hit and went to ground, about 10 minutes later another one of our group came into our carriage with a Terry Butcher style bandage round his head, he was the lad who went down. Anyone remember the one to Cardiff Halt, we had to pass through Cardiff station, the police told us to pull all the blinds down, so that if we got bricked it would stop the glass flying round the carriages.
