Mateo Kovacic.... I have a feeling city will be all over this by the end of this week. 50-60m Rolls Royce of a player. Quick and dynamic and a nasty side in the tackle. In my humble opinion he is better than anything we've got and will improve the midfield dramatically...
But who knows lol

Pep clearly disagrees or he wouldn't have been trying o buy Fred, Jourginho and wouldn't have said yesterday that we may still be looking for a defensive midfielder.
He will of course go with what he has and say he is happy if he doesn't get anyone but it is clear that he thinks we need better than the options he has within the squad at present....

Then factor in clubs can't get a replacement in time so they demand a premium and we wont pay it.
It sucks as we need a DM but i don't think we will this summer.
It's been mentioned in the past that the club has 3 options for every position, going into every transfer window. Unless option b and C have already signed elsewhere, I'd be surprised if we not atleast considering other options before the window shuts.

I don't know what "lung bursting runs" you are talking about? I just re-watched his YouTube highlights linked above, (and that wasn't enjoyable!) There wasn't any instances where he showed he was quick.Look at the video on you tube on his lung bursting runs. Come Back to me. Lol
Several times he was being caught by defenders and just managed to pass before he was caught. Not once did he show a clean pair of heels.

It would seem the club would prefer to go with what we have than "overpay". Players like Delph can do a job for us in the short term but going off the interest they showed in Jorginho, it would seem they dont see any of the current squad as the long term answer to that position. Fern needs cover/replacement but the longer this window goes on, the more likely it is that we'll have to wait until next summer...

If its a position that needs filling now I'm sure we do. If its a position that needs filling in the next 2 or 3 windows then maybe not. Jorginho was a fit and became available. We didn't get him and if no one else is available we wait. When it comes to next summer it will be more urgent then we will have 2 or 3 targets. If someone else that fits becomes available in the next couple of weeks we may try for him. I think we are one short but the problem is that we are getting well down the list - Fred, Jorginho ; and clubs will now want to take us to the cleaners with only a couple of weeks left - so whilst we may want someone - doing a deal may not be practically possible - maybe we will have a look at Christmas.
