Who should be the next leader of the Tory party?

Watched it all on sophie ridge this morning and not one mentioned helping people with the cost of living crisis , they are all too busy talking about cutting business tax , ni fair enough but what about helping those poor people on benefits other than universal credit or pension credits and those using food banks . They are not thinking about the poor here just trying to out do each other on tax , they need to do much more
They are pushing for party leadership so only have to appeal to Tory MPs, none of whom have to worry about cost of living or food banks.
They might consider such matters in the run up to the next general election.

Priti for pm. They'll get rid of her , but there again They'll get rid of whoever it is... but priti will sort out the mess rather than be popular. Imagine, actual governing.

She’d reintroduce austerity just for the fun of it.

On a more serious note, the 1922 Committee is reported to be considering raising the threshold from 8 votes to 20 or even maybe 36 so as to quickly thin out the field and accelerate the process. Not sure that will guarantee the best candidate is selected, however.

Apparently Priti is set to announce her leadership challenge as well today - anyone else going for gold?

Expect the next few weeks of them all slagging each other off. Then when the winner hands out the prizes of chancellor, Home Secretary and foreign secretary to the losers the back tracking will happen.

8 does seem very low. 36 is still less than 10% of MPs.

It'll still come down to
(a) the campaign to make the final two, and eliminating rival and possibly better candidates
(b) whether the MPs are looking at September 2022 or general election 2024
(c) what the party members are looking at.

There will doubtlessly be a lot of mud thrown - Javid was the first knife, Sunak apparently the one who blocked tax cuts, Zahawi the ingrate Chancellor. I'd think that all of the others would want to get rid of those 3.
