Big Joe Corrigan. Does anyone remember a save he made against Alan Clarke at Leeds in FA cup in 77. It was out of this world. That year motd had a save of the season and Joe came 2nd to a routine tip over the bar from 25yrds by alex stepney.First time i became aware of a media bias against City. Can anyone get that clip as i'd love to see it again

Thanks for the reminder of this, saved me looking up the details. This was one of my first memories, Big Joe was one of my hero's as a kid as I played in goal, this save was the dogs, I was gutted when we lost, but have never forgotten that save. I managed to get him to sign his book last year, top bloke as well.

We've been pretty blessed really. Best performance's i'd seen would either be Weaver against Ipswich but Schmeichel at Liverpool was pretty decent too. Big Alex and Big Joe are both legends in their own rights but i'd have to say that Tony Coton probably saved us more points than any other in my time of watching City. I have to admit though i do remember throwing myself around on the kippax car park in front of the Blue 'goals' Gates as i grew up..... thinking i was the mighty PERRY SUCKLING!!! (Joe Hart has big shoes to fill there) ha ha....

Is that the game we lost 1.0 Trevor Cherry scored i think, my young face was devastated that day

yeah we lost 1 nil , not sure the scorer but if my memory serves me right Joe got into a fight with a leeds fan that day
Cherry got the goal about 5minutes from the end,Corrigan got into a fight with Joe Jordan in the 6yard box

In my 28 years Tony Coton is head and shoulders above anyone. Obviously had Schmeicel or Seaman joined us in their prime it might have been different but Coton was my hero growing up, as was Paul Simpson. I too think Joe Hart has it all, I just hope the middle part of his career is better than his start because so many promising goalkeepers go backwards. David James was fantastic for us and I was gutted he left.

Any older member of my family say Trautmann, except my nan who had a bit of a thing for big Joe!

Well David Seaman was the worst ever.
David James the best ever. (never saw Joe Corrigan though)

I bow to the veteran blues who have seen the likes of Trautman and pass on the heroics of swift.I can only speak for what I have witnessed.I would choose Corrigan.
But there is one incident I must mention.A Maine road thrashing against West Ham 5.1 I think.Joe cleared his area and was jogging back to his goalline, when said clearance lands at the feet of a west ham player on the half way line.Top volley and joes amazed to see the ball in the net before he gets to the line, nodded off big time.Big Mal IMO occasionally portrayed Joe as a kind of Immature Giant. This is how I remember Joe via this incident:) Yet would still trust him as the blues number 1 keeper.I Dont think he reached the standard of Shilton or Banks.2 Major inspirations in his day.I think he had everything, but total concentration for 90 minutes
