Who Will Pose A Threat Next Season

We will take some stopping, however the issue I have is when are we going to be ready?
Don't understand why our Brazilian and Argentinian contingent couldn't have joined our US tour? Both sides were eliminated early.
It's going to be a fringe side vs Chelsea and who knows vs Arsenal.
We have a very tough start to the season, I'm worried were going to be severely under cooked and give other teams an advantage.
Also why on earth is Sane not match fit?

The dippers will push us, but will be interesting to see if they make another deep run in the CL which they prioritize. Last season they put their eggs in the CL because they knew they weren't catching us for the title. Their league form suffered and barely made 4th. If we are neck and neck for the PL can they do well in both competitions? They did add depth with Fabinho, Keita and Shaqiri, but their 3 lynch pins are Mane, Salah and Firmino. Take one out of their line up and they aren't the same team IMO. You will have to rest a player here and there and they can't all play 2 times a week for the entire season. I think our depth is better to deal with multiple competitions.

I'm not deluded, but I also don't give a fuck about them, or who they've signed. I'm still enjoying our record breaking season and looking forward to this coming one with huge optimism. Some people on here should give it a try, it makes life much more satisfying!

Then I think you need to avoid the thread “who will pose a threat next season” if you just want to enjoy last season.

I remember last summer the same being posted when we didnt play as many pre season games as others. I think the thinking is it's better to have players rested and hit their stride as we get into the season, even if it's a slower start.
IMO I dont!t think match fitness will be an issue for players that were still playing games and training 3 or 4 weeks ago, less for some , being refreshed and some training and drills they will soon be up to speed, its not like they have let themselves go for two months.

Thanks for the advice, even though I didn't say I only wanted to enjoy last season. It was good advice though and I will avoid this thread from now on.

I'd also be grateful if you can advise me to avoid the match day threads next season!

Who's going to start like a train and who's going to build up a head of steam? I have a feeling City won't hit their stride until October, so we'll be on catchup duties. I say that with the 'next season after the title' hangover we've had previously. Having said that i still think we'll defend the title and be 10pts better than 2nd place, or Liverpool as I like to call them.

Arsenal (a)
Huddersfield (h)
Wolves (a)
Newcastle (h)
Fulham (h)
Cardiff (a)
Brighton (h)
I'm not underestimating any of those sides, but you seriously consider that run of games to be "a very tough start"?

If you think Liverpool won't push us close you are slightly deluded in my view. Consider that last Season we won 10 games by just one goal difference . Any reversal in that level of dominance and the gap narrows.

FWIW I think Liverpool will be the main challengers, but you're saying that only us will have reversals in our games ?

Was thinking exactly the same. Have we ever had an easier start?

Their are no easy games in the prem. I never assume anything.

The 3 promoted sides especially as our late returnees probably will need a game or 2 to get up to speed. Arsenal as well with a full squad that have game time in their legs

Last Season we were 25 points ahead of them. Can we reach such heights again?? I think 90-92 points is a tough but more realistic (and great) target for us .That means Liverpool need to improve by 15-17 points to be up there as well. The issue is whether their acquisitions can achieve that. I personally think they might get close.

Arsenal will be tricky; I'd nearly take a draw right now. But I'd be disappointed if we dropped 4 points from the other 6 games. No top 4 side in our first 7 games. If we were to handpick our opening fixtures, we couldn't really have come up with a kinder set of games.

I hope you are right. Playing newly promoted sides early on when they are bubbling with excitement and enthusiasm at being in the prem is probably the worst time to play them.
