Who Will Pose A Threat Next Season

I hope you are right. Playing newly promoted sides early on when they are bubbling with excitement and enthusiasm at being in the prem is probably the worst time to play them.
Yep; I remember playing Cardiff early on in their last season in the PL, and they turned us over (the Pellegrini title season, I think). But I'd like to think we're mentally tougher under Pep. And better coached/prepared for games now.

I`d agree with that but for the fact so many of our players will hardly of kicked a ball since the wc

I think Chelsea will be the biggest threat.

They have a good manager, a deep squad, and no Champions league to worry about. They will be a threat for the next two seasons before Abromovich fires Sarri and the whole Chelsea managerial cycle starts anew.

Both United and Liverpool over-performed last year. We're long past due for a Mourinho explosion regardless, I can't see him making it through the year. Liverpool punched way above their weight last year, and got injury-free and career years out of Firmino, Mane, and Salah last year. I wouldn't bet on that happening again.

Tottenham will be Tottenham. There will be a few months where they'll convince everyone they have a shot at a title, only to shoot themselves in the foot and finish 4th or 5th.

Arsenal doesn't have the talent or the squad depth. They're a cut below the rest. They'd do well to finish above 6th.

Pains me to say it because they make me sick to my stomach but the dippers will probably push us all the way. They have a stronger squad than last season and are better prepared than most teams for the start of the season. I expect them to start strongly.

Think we will win it but it will be alot tighter with Liverpool finishing 2nd. Hopefully I'm wrong pool finish 5th and klopp gets canned. Klopp is a good manager they have a strong squad and the board seem willing to back him unlike spurs think they will be our biggest challenges for the next few years.

Serri is 60 and has never won anything can't imagine he will buck that trend in the most difficult league in the world. Jose is so negative about everything that it is bound to be affecting a pretty decent squad of players think they will start slow he will moan more the players will stop playing for him and he will be gone by Christmas. Spurs don't splash the cash so can't imagine that can catch the rest of the pack until they do and arsenal don't have a strong enough squad in my opinion maybe next season they can be in the mix.

Shouldn't be too surprising that clubs respond to City's season by wanting to strengthen. United are the odd one, I genuinely expected a clear out and replacements on a high scale. Mourinho does have a bit of a point there - not because of lack of money, but because their squad is all over the shop, the result of the various supermarket sweeps they've done over the last five years or so.

But Liverpool do look decent, or at least their first eleven does.

It could be that Liverpool will put in a challenge.

But once again, it is based on a mythical situation, where their new signings all improve them significantly & their players from last season, all perform to the same or better standards, & they make an enormous improvement whilst we slip back, rather than any kind of concrete reasoning.

We have seen absolutely nothing yet, to give even the slightest indication this will happen, but plenty have bought it, just the same.

They’ve done what we did - buy for positions that were causing them problems. That made us favourites for the title. No different for them now, minus them being favourites. I expect them to push us all the way to may.

No they haven't done what we did, at all.

We were favourites because we had Pep Guardiola in a 2nd season, AND signed a bunch of players. They have had the same bloke who has been failling dismally to win any trophies, added a potentially decent midfielder, a Stoke reject & Fabinho, who so far looks like Fernando's shite brother.

They 'could' push us all the way, just as could Spurs, Utd & particularly Chelsea, who have a squad full of champions a new manager, who played great football in Italy plus & a better midfield signing than Liverpool have made.

But once again, all the bullshit is about one club.

You’ve missed out the all important signing they made just like we did - goalkeeper.

Oh and Keita

To be fair, of all the top six, they're the only ones who have made a stackful of big signings, so even without the "everyone loves Liverpool" media coverage, they'd probably be the most interesting potential challenger to talk about. All the others - and City themselves for that matter - there's not so much to say.

Without remotely expecting them to challenge at the top, I'm surprised West Ham haven't been talked about a bit more in the press though.
