Who will we replace Tevez with?

Most people on here are just mentioning names that are spouted in the press & media in general.

Cavani (too expensive)
Lewandowski (wants to go to Bayern)
Gomez (big lump, looks like a Luftwaffe pilot with his slick back locks)

Or they just reel off any other (deemed) top strikers name out there

Higuain (probs end up at Arsenal)
Benzema (not sure why? Probs coz he plays for Madrid)
Villa (too old, not come back fully from injury)
Benteke (no one had heard of him before last season)
Lukaku (see above)

I'm sure our scouting system is a little bit more rigorous than this..... Thankfully

Our scouting system will only be proven once the season has ended....

If whoever they buy has better performance and stats then Cavani, Gomez and Lewandowski then great.

If not, and i suspect if we dont get Messi, Ronaldo or Van Persie they wont, then what you said is just you being bored of hearing the same names.

These name are around because they are the best available strikers. Thats who we should be going for isnt it?

I'd be surprised if one of those names above isn't on our players list next year.

He isn't good enough, along with Gomez and co, this is paper talk.

They are both good enough. Maybe not to start every week, but as options. Gomez has played a part in a Bayern team much better than our own for several seasons. His role is more peripheral now thanks to Mandzukic but he's still scored vital goals for them. If Gomez didn't demand weekly starts, he could be really useful as our equivalent of Hernandez. Osvaldo is the one I'd really avoid from the 'list of four' going around, a very bad temperament.

What's the point of buying another squad striker when we only have one starting 11 striker?

Who says we will have only one starting striker? No one knows until we line up. Soriano has said very clearly 4-3-3 is the academy formation but the first team manager can do what he wants as long as the basic principles are followed. For all we know Pellegrini could use his standard 4-2-2-2 formation.

Gomez is a good goalscorer, but I'd have expected him to have scored a lot more than he has, playing in that team and he lacks pace.
It's no surprise they are after Lewandowski and I doubt he's any different to Dzeko.
You would have expected Gomez to score more than he has? Is 113 in 174 not good enough?

Filippo Inzaghi wasn't quick but was still a very affective player for AC Milan as well.

This!

We need to go after the best striker available. We didn't shift weight to bring in more fat.
It's time to get the cream of the crop.

-- Fri Jun 28, 2013 4:22 pm --

No, my point is that if we use a 4-2-2-2 formation today, only one of our strikers is what we would normally call a starting 11/world class striker. Dzeko hasn't been for us and Guidetti is still an unknown factor.

A strike force of Aguero-Dzeko is weaker than Aguero-Tevez and a strike force of Aguero-Negredo/Soldado is weaker than Aguero-Tevez

So what's the point of buying another squad striker when we're still lacking another world class striker.

To be honest, NO! Bayern are an amazing club, where he has been surrounded by fantastic players.
Cavani has a much better scoring record playing for a less fashionable club, in a league renowned for the meanest defences.
The German league hasn't been a strong league until recently. Only Bayern, Dortmund and Wolfsburg have won it in the last 6 years and Gomez has never been the the leagues top scorer, whereas Dzeko has, so why bother to replace Tevez for someone who similar or worse than Dzeko.

Sounds like someone has had some assurances. :)
