Pele was loyal, Maldini was loyal, Del Piero is loyal, Raul is loyal, Totti is loyal, Torres moved from his boyhood club Athletico to Liverpool to win trophies! Of course he would not sign for Real Madrid that is like saying Gerard would not sign for the Rags! Torres may not be motivated by money, but he has proven that he is motivated by success.

Each of those players were lucky to be at clubs that competed for top competitions year after year after year. How do you define loyalty? When Torres left A. Madrid they were in a real mess financially and the money they got for him sorted it out. Is that loyalty?

You cannot define loyalty as simplistically as you have above. It doesn't make any sense.

Torres will not come to Man City. If you want a wager i can set this up on betfair. Money where your mouth is time.

Firstly, tevezblue, in not one of my posts have I ever said Torres, or for that matter anyone else WILL be a City player! I have laid out a list of players I would like, and graded MY targets as realistic, unrealistic, dream signing. I have NOT set out a list of players I think City will go for, otherwise the likes of Balotelli would have been mentioned.

Secondly, of the loyal players I have included:

Pele: he was at Santos for the duration of his career not Real Madrid (even though they were begging him to sign for them), I would say that was pretty loyal

Totti: he is on record as saying that if he left Roma (again repeatedly rejected offers from Madrid) he would have undoubtedly won the Ballon D'or, but playing for Roma is more important than winning these honours, again I would say that was being loyal to your boyhood club.

Thirdly, I am not saying Torres is not a nice guy, nor am I saying that his sole motivation is money. I believe he is a realistic target, you do not, fair enough. If Torres wanted to stay at Athletico, they would have been all too happy to have kept him (David Villa still has not left debt-ridden Valencia). Under your definition of loyalty Wayne 'once a blue, always a blue' Rooney is one of the most loyal players out there!
