Who would you like to see write a book on their time at City?

Did I mention I'd been on Eggheads?
Two people for me
1. Would love Brian Kidd to do a book - his time with Busby and Slur Alex, Tony Book, Mancini and Manuel P.
2. Bernard Halford - but only if he comes clean with the whole Swales shenanigans.... Once he goes, that story will probably never be told. But would he do it? He admitted that the 1986 FA Youth Cup final attendance was 10,000 more than the official crowd given - so there is clearly a lot more he knows but has never revealed.
But would he do it? As (still) an FA council member, probably not.....

When I saw the title of the thread, Bernard was the one that came to mind immediately - as long as he gave an honest and unexpurgated account. Don't see it, regrettably, but he's the guy who really knows where the bodies are buried.

Francis Lee has been promising for a few years to produce a book, in particular lifting the lid on his time as chairman. That would be fascinating if it were done right, though my fear is that he'd get some retired journo mate to do it and wouldn't realise the full potential.

I'd love to see a Franny Lee book covering his playing time then his battle to take over the club, his time as chairman, being deposed by Wardle & Makin's and then his time as a shareholder plotting a comeback. I know he tried a few times to get back in.

The first question Peter Spencer asked me when news of the Supporters Trust meeting with David Bernstein broke was "Is Franny Lee involved? Have you spoken to him?" Apparently Franny had been involved in a few 'false flag' approaches so the first assumption was that this was just another one.

I first though Kiddo and then Bernard Halford! I expect they both know where the bodies are buried, especially Bernard.

Garry Cook would also provide some interesting insight. Skip as well.
Skip has had a book a couple of years ago.
Got a copy to see what was written about the 86 youth team when writing Teenage Kicks and was amazed that it only received about 8 lines!

The one era I'd like to read about would be the pre takeover years and get an honest account from the likes of Chris Bird, Alistair Mackintosh and Sarah Billington as well as Wardle and Makin etc. Who was that Tyrell bloke from the Wirral who was communications manager or something.?

LOL at the words "honest account" & "Alistair Mackintosh" in the same sentence. I'd believe Baconface more than I would Mackintosh.

And yes it was Paul Tyrrell who was head of communications at the time. There's a cracking document floating around, that he compiled when he was at Liverpool, about the Spirit of Shankly group that were actively opposing Hicks & Gillett. Even Senator Joe McCarthy would have laughed at the paranoia exhibited.

No doubt he had a similar one on some of us when he was here.

If that era was going to be covered in a book, I would certainly have some stories to tell.

I'd love to read a Gary Cook book about his time under Frank and what actually happened during the takeover, the meeting that took place when Gary came back drunk on emotion giving that interview just before the announcement and who else Sheikh Mansour was interested in, the Kaka bottling it, the way it unfolded about him leaving etc... etc...

It was a time that changed our club forever and to hear it from a man in the eye of the storm in detail would be fascinating.

Like to read one from Asa Hartford about the period when Big Mal was selling all our best players.

Still not too much in the public eye about exactly what went on in the first half of 1979 and why.
