With Mancini at Samp/Roma today and Mauro Icardi linked with us, I wonder if the club would bypass the expensive Cavani/Falcao signing and snap up Icardi? A case of trying to find the next Falcao/Cavani before they cost £50million. 7 goals in his last 6 games including 4 against Pescara and 2 against Italy's best team Juventus. And he's only 19, 20 this month. I don't know an awful lot about him but people are going crazy over him in Italy and comparing him to Batistuta. He's also Argentinian and was in the Barcelona academy...

Not seen anything of him in real life but getting rave reviews and I can't imagine Mancini being at the game to look at anyone else.

Sell Balo and replace him with Icardi could be a good move, looks like he isn't an out and out striker so that is what we need. I would imagine it would see Dzeko being sold though as well because I would like to think Guidetti will be utilized last week.

Hope not, this icardi kid from sampdoria looks a talent if he came to us and mancini still here hope he don't ruin him we need a real live wire in our team we are just far too laboured

There's 14 players that deserve to stay:

If we can recoup £45m (Wright, Maicon, Bridge, Lescott, Kolarov, Kolo, Barry, Garcia, Sinclair, Santa Cruz and Tevez) added to the £20m from the Balotelli sale we could bring in 4 top class Champions League quality players, maybe we would have to spend a bit more but the reduction in the wage bill from 11 players leaving would help ease that to some extent. That leaves us with 18 first team players and the rest should be young, up and coming players who are hungry to make an impact. If we show that we are willing to give young players a go it will benefit us in the long term attracting the best.

So that's around £110m and we'd probably save loads on wages. Schurrle is a more realistic, cheaper alternative to Bale, Gaitan would be another option. Moutinho as I think we need a top class deep lying play maker and he's just a brilliant player.

Would love to raid Serie A for younger players such as Lamela, Icardi and Quintero. Can't see those three costing much more than £25m all together and Lamela alone is going to be worth that within two years imo.
I trust that Begiristain and Soriano will be looking at youthful players who can add something to the squad like the above.
The right blend of youth and experience will join hopefully.

We should absolutely be able to get a fee for Maicon now that amateurs aren't in charge of the transfers. He's one of the most prolific right-backs of the last decade and only 31! Brazil, China, Middle East...

Why would you sell Garcia?Hes had to play out of position for last few games. Hes getting better and better as he adapts to English football. The changes are going to be nothing like posted by many on here. Out of contract players out and two or three others like Nasri, Lescott, Possibly Tevez.
