That would have been true in years gone by - but there is a shift in power and influence going on , and the man who has brought us so much joy is at the cutting edge .
As was suggested by PB in earlier posts , the old order is going to get some shocks - there is always a price to be paid .

Re: Whos Not playing by the rules now Mr Platini??????

Just so I fully understand...we are saying that it isn't a good idea to host the world's largest football tournament in a country with 400,000 citizens, in the desert, with no footballing history whatsoever and no use for the ensuing stadia, built by indentured migrants, where those with nontraditional sexual practices are beaten as a a matter of a law and tourists are only allowed to drink in "hotels"...is a problem...bollocks.

As an American, I would obviously love to host the tournament but if its granted to Australia, fair enough. They are more than worthy and more than capable, especially considering the current circumstance.

Re: Whos Not playing by the rules now Mr Platini??????

this Qatar world cup its quiet a joke right now

every country who got the WC paid at some level

Im moroccan, Morocco tried since 1994 to get it but hell no :) last try against South Africa M got 10 South Africa 14 and it happened that after ; the guy mariner ? ffrom Tobaggo and 2 others sold their vote (event ought i can understand at that time why Morocco couldn't get (maybe in 2026) but at end what South Africa offered nothing crimes, expensive travel tickets, Fans couldn't even go out in streets )

As for Qatar 2022 it was the turn of middle East and Asia and since Japan and Australia already organized major sport event so it was only Qatar that stand

their was no other countries from the region who applied (for many reasons you know)

Maybe a country like Turkey would have been the perfect place for it even UAE could offer more than Qatar

right now we here everyday about conditions in Qatar, so for FiFA instead of hypocrisy right now, could have made clear on certain issues that Qatar should have to accept or apply

right now they aren't even sure if they will hold it in the summer or winter !

It would be an amazing World Cup down here and would be perfect conditions for football which isn't a summer sport!
A World Cup in Ealing? I've never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life. The North Circular would grind to a halt and getting served at 'The North Star' would be nigh on impossible.

Re: Whos Not playing by the rules now Mr Platini??????

From selfish point of view a Aussie world cup would be nightmare with the time zone and times of the matches to watch in the uk unless the average man in the street took about a month off work

It would be similar to Japan/South Korea in the pub for 7am pissed at 10am, happy days.
