A World Cup in Ealing? I've never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life.

Indeed - the whole thing would be one huge comedy.
Much as I would love this box of fireworks explode in the faces of corrupt officials, I have seen too many of the these false dawns to be convinced that this too won't be swept under the Axminster.
It's highly likely that Quatari representatives offered inducements to sway the decision, but proving it conclusively is another thing entirely.

The release of this information (millions of emails and documents apparently) to the papers........could this Sheik Mansour in payback mode?

I would have thought that the Sheikh's main gripe would be with UEFA rather than FIFA mate, but I suppose anything's possible where money and influence are concerned.
I'm also unsure as to whether or not one hugely rich Arab would choose to implicate other hugely rich Arabs just to get some convoluted form of revenge which may bring discredit to fellow Muslims, but then I really don't know enough about how the land lies between Sheikh Mansour and the Quatari administration to say with any degree of certainty.

There's some animosity between both sides at the moment regarding the way Al Jazeera reneged on a gentleman's agreement in the bidding for various TV rights. That's not to say they'd resort to anything like this (very, very unlikely), but it's fair to say that Abu Dhabi aren't at all impressed with how the Qataris handled themselves in relation to the TV deals.

Re: Whos Not playing by the rules now Mr Platini??????

Notions of all this being some orchestrated 'pay back' from FFP and City is folly.

Of course there will be plenty of people with an axe to grind against FIFA (and UEFA too), and some might be helpful in leaking information, or pointing investigative journalists in the right direction. It's high politics in these sort of organisations. We only need to see the bidding process to realise that.

I suspect the real corruption is at slightly lower levels than the very top. But the top is guilty of pretending it's not a problem.

Has there be a criminal investigation into the goings on at FIFA?

Surely there needs to be, and people actually charged
They investigated themselves and were found not guilty.

This all stinks of a corrupt man trying to shaft another corrupt man. Platini is Blatters heir apparent and wasn't the man named as the alleged briber going to challenge Blatter then resigned just before the election?

Unfortunately self regulation is also a feature of the Police, the NHS and Politicians to name just 3 areas within the UK yet our so called democratic Government allows it to happen.

Cannot see any way that any disclosures of any sort will have any effect on the hierarchy. The usual denials and looking for scapegoats will happen with perhaps Quatar being one of the casualties but don't expect any changes on the Top Table.

Perhaps the best way to bring corruption to the Courts is via tax avoidance legislation (it worked with Al Capone).
Otherwise forget about replacement these people are just as adept at preserving their positions as any of our own politicians.

i'd look closer to home, i am sure there are many wry smiles on the faces of English FA officials in private at the moment, esp after being shafted for the 2018 WC!

in fact there are so many parties looking to stick the knife into FIFA that it could end up like the Agatha Christie, murder on the orient express - they ALL did it!!!!

And, not only that, if you've just logged on, the bird in the Crying Game is a dude.

And so it starts. One by one, those at the top of UEFA will be brought crashing to earth for double crossing the Sheikh. Another former top class player and senior football administrator who's had a lot to say about us may well be next.

Just to check if you're referring to two people, a former top class player, and senior football administrator - Or if that's all one person?
The latter.

Well... he did vote for Qatar against advice... wonder 'what' secured his vote?

Platini's relationship with the Qataris (and his son's) would certainly be worthy of another Sunday Times investigation. Credit to this newspaper for actually producing some journalism instead of the moronic coverage of football governance we have seen in most of media. Perhaps someone might start upturning some of the stones at UEFA and reveal the real truth behind FFP...but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm sure the Sunday Times team has more up its sleeve.

The Sunday Times definitely does have more up it's sleeve. There will be a few weeks of it. The following is an extract from the article at the weekend:

"This weekend and over the coming weeks this newspaper will expose how Bin Hammam exploited his position at the heart of world football to help to secure from the key members of Fifa’s 24-man ruling committee the votes that Qatar needed to win. "
