Why are we always so poor against Klopp’s Liverpool?

Agree with this, I said to my mate after the game it's no coincidence that Fernandinho's worst games for City come against Liverpool.

He's been one of our best players this season but just doesn't suit playing against this lot. I'd prefer to see KDB in the pivot on Tuesday with the Silva's in-front of him. You need to be able to turn on six-pence against Liverpool's press and move the ball or yourself forward quickly to take advantage of the space their players have vacated.
It would take a brave man to drop Fernandinho regardless of the logic in it.

We have a slightly important game tomorrow and I think this thread should be locked until Sunday

I have huge concerns about tomorrow. I hope the players attitudes aren’t the same as being represented on this forum. Too many are miserable, negative and dwelling on a game that’s gone. This huge game tomorrow it’s barely getting a single mention across the forum. We have a chance to win the Premier League title against United at the Etihad tomorrow. Let me repeat that...

MANCHESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB CAN WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE AT HOME AGAINST OUR ARCH RIVALS, MANCHESTER UNITED, TOMORROW!

That’s a once in a lifetime, what dreams are made of opportunity. Yet going off the vibe on this forum you wouldn’t even think we were in a title race never mind bossing one, you wouldn’t even know we had a game tomorrow judging off the top fifteen topics of the forum.

I think we all need to get a fucking grip! Wednesday is gone, it’ll never come back. We have to move on! And what a way to move on to what is actually one of the biggest games in this club’s history and everyone is moaning about a beer bottle smashing a bus window and a game in another competition that we can do nothing about.

If we spend too long dwelling on that we are running the risk of taking our eye off the ball tomorrow and losing that game.

Mods, do the right thing and lock all Liverpool and Champions League related threads until Sunday!..

Fuck the Scousers, fuck Liverpool Football Cult, fuck the Champions League... this season has always been about the Premier League title and we can win it tomorrow, again, against United.

So come on bluemoon forum, fucking shape yourselves up and get with it!

Counter-pressing/ Gegenpressing, whatever you want to call it was a modern invention to counter the ever increasing possession game and Klopp is the best in the world at getting his teams to play it.

Exactly this.

Klopp tactics is the Achilles heel of Pep. It's the classic good-evil, Angel-demon, ying yang rule. Some are in denial of how effective it is because to our eyes Pep's system is the perfect and grandest system. But the weakness is in its perfection. There is an obvious pattern to our play, but many opposition cannot cope with it despite knowing these patterns. Klopps specific Gegenpress and press traps allow him to transpose this pattern to his, because it is made specific to trap pressing teams like us. It doesn't necessarily work against other teams but we are its main food. It's meant to trap us, and deep playmaking Henderson is crucial to this play. Havin him suspended is a big advantage even though many thinks he's superficial to the tactics. The question is if someone can take the Henderson role that is central to their press, or if Klopp will even stick to his pattern of play in the 2nd leg.

Klopp relies on Henderson and whoever is on the right wing, take the two out most of our focus will be on one man Team Salah.

They are arguably the best counter attacking team in the league. Thus, it’s important we don’t make careless mistakes and field players with questionable work ethic.

It’s not terribly surprising that our record at Anfield is poor, but the manner in which we are defeated is a cause for concern.

With regards to Tuesday, I am conflicted as to what our approach should be. If we go out all guns blazing, I fear they will nick a goal (or two) which would ultimately destroy any small chance we have of progressing. However, I will be fairly optimistic if we are 1 up at half-time. But we may need to exercise more caution and patience for such a scenario to be possible.
