Why are we being linked with mid level signings?

You totally ignore the rest of the team and the way that a team functions.

Simplistic doesn't even come close to your rationale. And you are getting pissy 2 months before the window closes. This argument should be put on hold for 60 days.

I am not ignoring the team and the way it functions at all, i am just stating that Negredo and players like that will be shit signings for us. Lets learn from last season when we bought Garcia, Maicon and Sinclair, quantity is not needed, quality is though. If we would of not bought Garcia, Sinclair, Maicon, Rodwell last season and kept De Jong and AJ and then used all that money on the Van Persie deal, we WOULD have won the league EASILY. Players like Van Persie make the difference, players like Van Persie win you titles. Players like Negredo will take you nowhere. I am not having a hissyfit and i am not being spoilt in any way shape or form, but we need BETTER than Negredo. He lacks pace, he has a pretty average first touch, the ball tends to bounce off him and he would not be an upgrade on Dzeko physically. Why buy Negredo when we already have a better player in Dzeko?

Like i said, i would much rather we bought Higuain, Soldado, Benteke or Jovetic. Higuain has a better first touch, he is a proven goalscorer and is suited to our style of game, very technical. Soldado is the same, quick, technical and has very good movement off the ball, another very good goalscorer. Benteke has the lot, pace, power, a very good first touch, holds the ball up superbly and can score goals with either foot. Probably the most powerful Premier league striker at the moment and i fully believe he could be a star in years to come. Put it this way, the bigger sides hate playing against him, they are shit scared of him. Jovetic i think should be bought regardless as he can play in numerous positions. Class player who would make up for the loss of Isco.

Say what you want about me playing football manager, but the simple fact is Tevez is a superb player and he will be a huge loss to our side, we need to replace him with quality and not limited footballers like Negredo who aren't even fit to lace Dzeko's boots, never mind Tevez's.

Totally agree with you bud (apart from the bit about Benteke).

Benteke may not be a massive name, but he is a player who has all the attributes to be a huge success at City. We play a nice passing build up game and Benteke is VERY VERY good at holding the ball up. He never seems to lose it and is very good technically, brings other players into play. Now we have Navas, Benteke would have an absolute field day with crosses being whipped in the box. He is superb in the air and when we play teams like Everton and Stoke, we have really struggled to break them down... but Benteke gives us that other option, that other dimension because of his power and aggression. He can hustle and bustle for 90 minutes and still link play up between the midfielders. He is more than just a target man... he also has terrific pace and can play on the last shoulder of a defender and with players like Silva, Nasri and Toure threading balls through, he could score an absolute bag full. Put it this way... if Benteke came to City for 25m and Cavani went to Chelsea for around 50m... i would put good money on Benteke finishing the season with more goals than Cavani, given that he gets around the same number of games. He is an ABSOLUTE monster and like i said, defenders are feared to death of him. Just look at the way he bullied John Terry and David Luiz around, the way he bullied Vidic and Smalling, the way he bullied Heitinga and Jagielka and Skrtel and Carragher... he would be that different type of player who would bring something new to our line up. We have all the skill in the world in our side, but sometimes you need a striker who can throw his weight around and be a nightmare for opposition defences just like Drogba was. He also looks to me as if he has a big mentality and unlike Dzeko, he does not let anyone bully him about. Great finisher as well.

I would also buy Jovetic too to play on the left side in Nasri's position, we need more goals in our side and Nasri does not seem like he has goals in him at the moment, not like he did at Arsenal anyway. Still think Nasri will come good though, too good a player not to.

We should just chill and wait out the window to see what happens before making any judgement. From the way players and people in the game talk about Pelle I've got a lot of confidence in him as a manager and someone that can bond a team together.

Mancini was a move up we needed at the time, but he failed to give any youngsters a run in the first team, it seemed he had no faith or confidence to even bring one one with 20 minutes to go when we looked comfortable.

We've spent a fair bit on up and comers who would have never had a chance under the old manager. At least under this one we'll have the opportunity to see some of them trying to make that break into the first team.

Van Persie did win them the league last season and yes we did miss out on him and Hazard. This season we miss out on Isco and Cavani but I dont want us to splash over £50m on one player whose chairman is a class A dick head. Isco well he's spanish and got offered a place at one the best teams in his country and the world so what could we really of done about that (maybe tie it up in January but you cant rue missed opportunities, just try learn from them).

Too many time we've been held over a barrel on transfer fees, wages and the agents fees, if we carry on playing that game then we carry on being ripped off, which will affect FFP over the long run.

It might not be what people want but I've full confidence in Pelle, Txiki and Ferran and what they have planned. Lets just see what happens over pre season, see who else we get in, how we set out team out and how they play under a new system before getting the guns out.

Which is why i would want us to get Jovetic and Benteke for the price and wages of Cavani.
Benteke would probably only want around 60k a week and Jovetic would probably want about 100k a week. Both players would probably cost 25m each and seems a lot more sensible to get 2 quality players for the price of one.

True enough, if we can put that together and the players want to come then lets have a bash. Doesn't necessarily have to be those two players but if we can get some quality and two in for the price of one Cavani you wont see me complaining.

I just have a feeling though if we did go in for those type of players then their clubs are still likely to try and put that City tax on whoever we do go for. Its a tricky situation to be in.

Why would Benteke join for half of Gareth Barry's wages, especially if he came for 25m in place of one Europe's two strikers?

Why would two players who will get guaranteed game time at many of the clubs after them come to City to sit on the bench behind the likes of Kun, Dzeko, and Silva.

This

I don't know where it comes from but some people on here seem to completely ignore the fact that footballers aren't cattle they are human beings with emotions and ambitions. They may not want to come a warm the bench at City.

Posts/threads like this are becoming more and more frequent.
You're noticing it more at the moment because it's the close season. This is when a cocktail of boredom, expectation and posters' personal neuroses come to the fore.

Some people are piss-poor at dealing with these things.
