Why are we hated so much?

People just hate the teams that are winners...Real Madrid for example. It brings out all the jealousy and bitterness against a team like City who have been bloody brilliant for years. Take it as a compliment and don't worry about it. It's interesting that United, even today, are by far the most hated team.
That has a lot to do with their entitlement though. Both their fans and a lot of their staff at all levels of the club.

No matter how well we play or how shrewd we are tactically or in the market, we never feel entitled to a title or a trophy until we win it, and then it’s ours. The rags have a different attitude, and it’s not a sporting one.

We're hated because we're successful. We're envied and hated in equal measure because our owners have money to spend and they invest in our club. We're also disliked because there's a sense among some other club fans that we've "stolen" their players - Arsenal fans in particular feel this way.
We did clear them out during the Hughes / early Mancini days :) they’ve always been a selling club though, or at least they have since they got the bill for the Emirates stadium.

Manu sprinting up to celebrate in their faces gave em PTSD and they’ve never shaken it off

Well if anyone would know about corruption in football it would be him
He was mugged over by the papers and The FA too really.

They attempted entrapment on him, for something not unlawful, and he didn’t follow through with it anyway. So it’s a farce on three counts.

Cos we win stuff.
Yeah but that only applies to fans of other clubs

I understand the general football fan of other clubs hating us because we are successful. That’s why a lot of football fans used to hate Man United. That’s alright, I wouldn’t expect anything less, it’s how it should be. I’d probably hate us if I was raised to follow a different club.

but doesn’t really explain or justify why media and people involved in the game seem to have such a dislike for us. If it was down to us winning things, then they wouldn’t have been sucking the cocks of Liverpool and United for decades.

The reality is that Football in this country is basically like a class system and there’s a couple of clubs that get treated like royalty. So when you get a side like us that started taking over, they didn’t like it, it upset the balance and their business. The people in the game were all in it together, on the take, from the top, right down to bent officials to try and keep their system in place.

They don’t like us because they can’t stop us fair and square. That’s why they spend years investigating us to find something on us but don’t spent a minute doing it to other clubs who are spending obscene amounts, likely not all by the book.

M8 I really think it's money pure and simple.

For example, Nigeria state tv stopped buying the rights to show the PL games because people in Nigeria generally support utd or arsenal. That's a massive financial impact to sky/PL.

When the newspapers run stories about utd or Liverpool they get so many more clicks, so much more engagement with their publication than with city fans... lots of revenue to those publications.

All those "interests" align into the same thoughts.... City are bad for business.

Add on top of that the fanboy reporters who actually do support the trad clubs and we end up with the hatred we get.

Our owners probably thought they could beat that with success but they won't let that happen right now.

But one day we will break that glass ceiling, and we will remember those clubs and people that were throwing shut at our club, and I do believe they will pay one way or another.

It takes time, but at some point the pundits will predominantly be ex blues and the shit that is coming the "Super Spiv 5", is going to destroy their images over night.

It's simple, really. People get bored of the same club winning too often for too long. It's human.

Sure, there's media bias and anti-Arab feeling and some people think we've cheated through the huge investment, but I think the change in other fans' views over time is just that simple fact that sooner or later people just think someone else should win things for a change.
Absolutely this.
I think you will find the rags are still actually very more despised by fans of other clubs than we are for that reason. Yes, Ferguson and most of his players were deeply unlikable people, but it really comes down to them pretty much monopolising English football between 1993 and 2011. Those of us who are older hate Liverpool for their dominance between around 1973-1990 (and more recently behaviour of club and fans).
I am not sure it is preventable if we keep winning. The thing to do is remain gracious in victory and defeat, enjoy our (considerable) successes and quietly revel in the tribal petty mindedness of others.

They wouldn't be arsed if we won nowt.

Has we are well aware there are rags and dipper armchair supporters in every hamlet town and city in the British isles and we don’t really garner that same support at the moment. And the media are well aware of this and write stories for them to bask in reflected glory. An example of this I was in transit at an airport in the Far East and got chatting to a guy from Sunderland in the smoking room and the subject was always going to be about football,so I asked how the black cats would get on this season and he said no idea he was a rag fan. Promptly stub my fag and walked out.
