Why are we hated so much?

I don't understand this insatiable need to get xx amount of 'fans' who are say....builders or farmers from .. I don't know...Lagos or Dakar they have pretty limited impact re improving finances. Mainly though i think people not supporting a team that they have some links to is pretty poor for football. I watch Enfield now but have been a city 'supporter' since being born in North Manc with avid City supporting dad and family members...but i wouldn't 'start' supporting City just because they were good. I'd be an Enfield Supporter, not just the spectator I am probably. I think that's how it should be. All these 'fans' from around the world are basically blokes who like having a few beers in the bar with the match on TV. They are hardly fans...and i bet not many go and put their effort into supporting say..AS Dakur which, as a football fan is probably where there first love should lie, helping local team, economy, community etc

When i first started going to away games in the mid 80s and through the to 90s , i didnt feel particularly loved going to places like leeds millwall, stoke, birmingham , huddersfield, barnsley, wolves, port vale, boro, portsmouth etc.

Juventus wear black and white striped shirts because their first ones were given to them by Notts County.

We (Arsenal) have red shirts because we were gifted them by Nottingham Forest. Herbert Chapman added the white sleeves.

Nottingham maybe should be where the football hall of fame is based? ;-)

Ha, maybe. Its a shame in some ways it moved from Preston as its a positive to spread such museums around the country and helps those areas attract visitors.

History of football is quite incredible. Particularly how the railways transported the beautiful game to the Americas etc.

Interesting re your colours history, I didn't know that. Don Revie famously copied Madrid at Leeds. Corinthians in Brazil originally copied Corinthian Casual pick / brown quarter shirts and name of course. We wore a black shirt with large, Maltese cross when we were St Mark's I still can't believe the power of Chapman, getting the Gillespie Rd station named to just 'Arsenal' - this from a football manager in the '30's ..incredible. I think we need to start a campaign to stop young fans quoting History. We even have some young fans half supporting this by saying we are creating history! F'king ridiculous! Every club has history - but some clubs win more in their time - different conversation all together - Need a national eradication of 'istry campaign and replace it with..I don't know - education!!

Why are we so hated? Because we came from nowhere and started hoovering up titles, and the perception is that we spend billions of pounds every year, buy players to stop others getting them, pay off referees with brown envelopes, and everything we have ever achieved is because we've deliberately cheated our way to the top with inflated sponsorship deals, whilst blatantly sticking two fingers up to FFPR.

Of course, none of it is likely true, but opinions are formed from perceptions, and in a social media driven world, where conspiracy theorists feed off 'confirmation bias' Googling that gives them the answers they want to read, then it's very easy to see why we are so hated.

In reality, we are probably the most hated club that there has ever been, at this moment in time. It's got to the point where I actually don't bother wearing any City related gear now, both at home and abroad, because I can't be arsed with random strangers coming up to me, giving me the third degree.
