Why didn't you go to the Leipzig game?

Im a bit confused about Parker because he said he wad upset that people were talking more about Pep's comment in the media than the game but has seemingly accepted every single offer to appear in the media to continue and grow this story over the past 3 days.

There really isn't much of a story unless the head of the supporters group goes on every media outlet to tell Pep to "stick to coaching" and then there is a story of Pep vs. Fans.

As the general secretary of the official supporters club he was bound to be asked his opinion. Indeed he stated that a few times in his interview. "You asked me on here" he responded when a similar challenge was put to him.

I wouldn't be too critical of Kevin Parker because he's not a trained professional with media advisers coaching him for appearances on Sky Sports News. However, his comments were unfortunate because he could have used what Pep said to turn a spotlight on the general cost of football and, specifically, City's piss poor ticketing and customer service arrangements. Instead he talked about the manager which gives the media exactly what they want.

In defence of Pep, if you listen to what he said rather than what the media say he said he didn't really criticise anyone he just said he wants the stadium to be full because the team need the fans. Of course the media interpret that in a certain way but if Pep feels it's important why shouldn't he say it? He's been in Manchester for 5 years so might feel he's earned the right.

Yes he was bound to be asked to come onto Sky Sports and start a fire, thats exactly what Sky were looking for - a way to turn a few comments into a news story they could run for days to fill the gap between midweek games and the weekend.

As far as I'm aware he's not obliged to take them up on the offer or all the subsequent ones.

And obviously there's an incredible irony in telling someone to stick to their job and not cause a media distraction while you're on TV causing a media distraction.

As someone said above, Parker could have made this about the price of football, or turned a massive, national spotlight on the mobile ticketing problems that have taken up hundreds of pages of discussion on here.

Instead he seems to have taken it upon himself to tell Guardiola to wind his neck in and turn a few small comments into a massive news story.

Sorry Tim. But if he get's the invite to go on Sky Sports and doesn't realise that his words will be used to create an issue where non exist, then he shouldn't be on there.
The issue has been ongoing for years. Utd fans posting pics an hour before kick and at half time from the Etihad for at least a decade.

Maybe if you and other Bluemooners criticising Kevin put in a tenth of what he does for fans, you might have a slightly differenct perspective.

A plastic scouse (a yank) mentioned this to me last night in my pub. Only had the slightest interest in football, but had still heard of ‘Pep having a go at fans’. So the media narrative does get through to everyone remotely interested in the sport.
I explained that i did not care about numbers and admitted that Liverpool and the rags have far larger support bolstered by tourists and people with no connection to the area. We have support where the vast majority are local or with local connections who have stuck with the club through thin and thinner and are now enjoying our lottery win and the best football ever seen. I dread the day that my club gets infested with narrow minded losers who just want to be in with the herd and reflect on associated glory. Rather have empty seats …. and would you like ice with that?

simply cant afford it. i pay for my season ticket and cant afford to take time off and buy tickets for midweek games.
unless i can get one of these 1000s of free tickets that city apparently give out every week then my situation wont be changing soon.
This is the other big factor in attendances. There is simply too much football. We are victims of our own success. We never had to factor in probably multiple trips to Wembley, which are a dear do.

I think certain people should engage the brain before commenting, the press and all our freinds are now having a field day, everyone has an opinion but think before you print KP.

Same applies to Pep, moreso.

Parker is being asked for his opinion and, quite rightly, was responding with the only quote which was in the public domain.

No mate I wouldn't. Nobody has forced him to do what he does, he isn't conscripted.
To an extent it's actually irrelevant other than the fact he wouldn't have been asked on if he didn't do that job.
I completely understand anyone wanting to defend our fans, I have been all over the internet doing it myself today, but not as what the media will say is a representative of our fan base. It's at best naïve and at worst smacks of wanting to get your mush on telly.
