Why I want Hughes out and it’s not because of results

we know we can forget Hiddink as his loyalty lies with the Russian FA and he will stick to that, and if Frank R was that good why is he not employed

Citysid I am aware of his loyalty and its use to reject Chelsea but as my post said I believe that there is a way to get him despite that loyalty.

How then? serious question

1. a concern of mine with Hughes that he rates hard work over true quality.

2.
Old Frank and Sven left him with a rag bag collection

Many of whom contributed to our best performance of the season last night(IMO)

3. Moyes and O'Neil - Not really the template. Unless the template is to get a good manager in the club like Moyes or O'Neill then I understand totally.
a legacy of failure

4. Thoughts - I think it's entirely reasonable to expect a half decent manager to achieve that.

moomba my fellow fan. You have triggered a rather long reply - sorry everyone....
Thoughts on your points:
1. Quality - so, you are saying Kompany, De Jong, Zabaleta, Bellamy, Given are not quality? That Ireland has never played better under a manager? That Ireland was quoted yesterday that it has never been better in terms of the set up MH has established behind the scenes? That Onhoua is playing out of his skin??
I think MH fulfills your criteria for seeking quality (my definition includes hard working, loyal and skillful). His 'quality' signings happen to be hard working too - did you forget those players?

2. Sven's legacy - nobody can disabree that the team was on the slide after the premiership clubs sussed out Sven's tic-tacs in the 2nd half of the season. Last night, without Kompany or Zabby, it would have been much worse. With Bellamy and SWP full fit in both legs we would have been in the semis.

3. Template and failure - I agree that Hiddink and the special one are superb managers - I am not a fool. However, as I said in my original post, they did not take over clubs with a 25 year legacy of nearly but not quite failure (failure used to denote things like not winning trophies, not challenging consistently for Europe, not being relegated in a 10 year period etc.)

I'd love Gus and Jose to manage a team for 2 years like Stoke or WBA for red nose day and see what they can do with those teams. They are not miracle workers and will get out of players what players have to give. They would not do any better in my honest opinion than MH.

4. Your thoughts
You are entitled to your thoughts but I sense there are many a fan on here who just cannot divest themselves of their hate for MH because of his rag past. It is somehow lodged in their spirit clouding judgement and objective evaluation.

If we ditch MH this year, I firmly believe that we accept another 15 years of nearly-but-not-quite. I'll be 62 then, and won't have any memories of success other than Teuart's overhead goal, Nicky Weaver's cheer as we won at Wembley or Goater's goals against the rags.
I think I have posted the following beofre:

9 months???!!! GET REAL

Re: Why I want Hughes out and it’s not because of results

We already know from his part time role with Russia that there are times in the International calendar that are quieter than others or less taxing i.e. lower quality opposition.

1. We offer him the role of Director of football with overall responsibility for transfers, tactics squad selection etc. With the usual 4 year contract.
2. We ask him to find his own first team coach (and I mean a coach not a manager) who will have day to day responsibility for training etc and accepts his and Hiddink’s. position.
3. He is then free to manage Russia up to the end of his current contract (probably ends after World Cup 2010) visiting City as he can during the 2009/10 season. Which if the Chelsea experience is anything to go by would be reasonably frequently. When he cannot attend matches due to conflict with Russia games we accept it and he liaises with his coach who stands in.

I know that this situation is not ideal but if we want Hiddink we have to be flexible. Let’s face it we will not be in Europe next season so the whole seasons focus will be getting into a top six position, not too demanding with our resources and his ability. Hiddink would then be 100% City for the 2010/11 season when hopefully we will be in Europe.

So it was an okay decision to have no plan B in terms of bringing a striker in during the last window. Why the fuck did it have to be RSC or bust? And I don't care what anyone says, the UEFA Cup was winnable and it wouldn't have taken much to bring in a couple of strikers to help us get the job done. What a waste.

Surely anyone can see that RSC is a one season wonder and just another Jan Pablo Angel. I'm so glad that we didn't by the pile of sh*t and piss £20 mil down the sh*tter in the progress

Sorry Kevstar but quoting

9 months???!!! GET REAL

in mile high letters every time you post does not make you right.

If all these players are playing the best they ever have under Hughes how come we are where we are after those 9 months?

Re: Why I want Hughes out and it’s not because of results

I wonder what the excuses will be for anymore shit performances from now till the season end

i reckon the excuse will be "we went out of europe so the lads heads have dropped"

just wait i betcha..

Because of the shite that Sven bought, unwilling to put a shift in and not taking to Hughes' ethics!

Re: Why I want Hughes out and it’s not because of results

Not sure how you reason that one but leaving aside that some of our best performers had nothing to do with Sven or Hughes, Ireland, Ned.

How many and how often have Sven's men played since January. How good have our results been since January? Sven's men to blame I think not. The majority of players on the pitch have been Hughes men.

fair play, youve given an answer but I still cannot see him accepting this kind of offer, and to be fair it would be seen by the press etc as a desperate "part time" appointment

Wouldn't have mattered as you can only register 3 new players before final stages of UEFA Cup which were Given, Bridge and Bellamy, so even if more strikers were brought it, they would not have played last night.
