Why rearrange the united league fixture ?

I don't see the need to rearrange this match at the swamp.

We could send a squad to play the Black Cats at Wembley and still have enough decent players left over to take three points at United on the same day.
Which game would you go to?

at least with the distractions of both domestic cup competitions behind them, they can concentrate on avoiding the drop - as I have been telling my good chums in the office...

Dont give anyone ideas

In the 85/86 we played Utd on the Saturday and Chelsea on the Sunday in the Full Members Cup

Went to both - drew 2-2 at the swamp and lost 5-4, bizarre game that final. 5-1 down with 5 mins at the most left.

Does anyone else find this constant mocking of united a bit untoward?

It's not like they ever dished it out to us in the past

LOLZZ.

"Be nice to people on your way up because you'll meet them on your way down."
^^This^^

Let's not become like those who we despise.......................

already met the red twats on our way down....they took the piss for 35 years.

(which is what GDM meant really lads)

Not much to add here, apart from thinking the Full Members Cup Final could turn into one of those 'major' trophies one day, and we were there 'winning' it in it's infancy. Then we lost and it was just a tin-pot trophy. I think that was the first time my elders initiated me in the 'drink all the way to London, drink all the way back when we've lost.' I vowed then never to drink so much BEFORE a game, and never have.
As for the United / Sunderland same weekend conundrum, I suggest the vets, circa 1986 to play at the swamp.
Nixon (Elvis),
Reid, Power (captain), Redmond, McCarthy,
Phillips, Lillis, May, McNab, Kinsey, Wilson.
Not sure Premier League rules allow it now, but we'd still win.
