Not much to add here, apart from thinking the Full Members Cup Final could turn into one of those 'major' trophies one day, and we were there 'winning' it in it's infancy. Then we lost and it was just a tin-pot trophy. I think that was the first time my elders initiated me in the 'drink all the way to London, drink all the way back when we've lost.' I vowed then never to drink so much BEFORE a game, and never have.
As for the United / Sunderland same weekend conundrum, I suggest the vets, circa 1986 to play at the swamp.
Nixon (Elvis),
Reid, Power (captain), Redmond, McCarthy,
Phillips, Lillis, May, McNab, Kinsey, Wilson.
Not sure Premier League rules allow it now, but we'd still win.
