Why we will win the league!

I thought that against West Ham we looked physically strong, didnt really show any after affects from the 120 mins against Chelsea. But I also thought we looked mentally tired, especially as the game wore on. Sloppy passes, unecessary offsides, it just looked as if the players weren't thinking as quickly as usual.

I think mental tiredness would be more of a factor the further we progress in the CL. Those PL games played at the weekend following a big CL win would be a big risk.

I agree we were a little sloppy against West Ham however I thought we were excellent against a very resolute Bournemouth side. Our passing and control was incredible, only finishing let us down and even that was mostly after Mahrez scored. We were very much at it mentally Saturday.

Great point, the dippers cannot directly effect what we do.
If we keep getting results we win the league.
I would quite like the dippers to come second on a record number of points and only one defeat.
I think it would break them.
The dippers can't finish 2nd on a record number of points.

While we are top I do think we have the tougher run in with trips to Palace, Burnley and united.

While they’ve not been firing on all cylinders they haven’t lost since we beat them. If they do lose again I think they’ll be in trouble.

I think it will all depend on the two weeks from the end of March to 14 of April, we have Fulham away, Cardiff at home (at some stage) and Palace away while they have Spurs home, Southampton away and Chelsea home.

If they get 9 points from those 3 they’ll be difficult to stop especially as they’ll most likely be top while we’ll have a game in hand.

It doesn't matter about particular games or opponents. If they win those 3 they could still then drop points elsewhere. We beat Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea in a week. But lost away at Leicester and Newcastle and at home to Palace. You just don't know.

If we both win our next games and then Liverpool beat Fulham, they will be 2pts ahead having played a game more. If we win our following 3 whilst they beat Southampton but draw to Spurs and Chelsea we are 2pts ahead with a game in hand and in pole position.

But maybe they play with more freedom then knowing it is unlikely they'll win the title. And maybe we struggle with the pressure.

One game at a time is the only way to deal with it. We would all love Liverpool to keep dropping points whilst we win but there are plenty of twists and turns to come I feel.

Yes there are pros and cons for them staying longer in the champions league.

If they survive this round, then I do wonder if their extensive pre season is beginning to catch up with them, with an increase in fatigue and injuries.

I personally want them out of the Champions League as soon as possible, as it will put all of their eggs in one basket.

This will then crank up the pressure from both their own fans and the media onto their manager and players, who will struggle to play with the weight of expectation on their shoulders.

We've just got to hope that the depth of our own squad can cope with the fatigue/injuries that come with the latter stages of the season.

Hi MBM, I also want them out of the CL, after a good hiding by Bayern. I think sitting in watching other teams play knowing they have only 1 chance of winning something will really screw them up. Also look at our 3 title wins, kept going after a massive set back at Arsenal in 2012, won our last 5 or 6 matches to catch and pass raggies, 2014 when we came and won from way back, and last year after winning the league, and dropping a 2 silly points to Huddersfield kept going until 92 mins at St Mary's to get the 100 points. I think we, do have and, will have the determination and the squad to do this.

This fixture congestion leading to fatigue I do not get. Just don't train and treat the games as training. All players will say they'd prefer playing to training especially in a winning side when the trophies are being handed out. Who wouldn't want to play for City at the moment? The players should be chomping at the bit to get out there at this stage of the season. So don't read too much into this fatigue nonsense. Look at Liverpool; They're out of everything domestically and yet their form is still pretty gash. I want Liverpool to get knocked out of Europe as it will be yet another psychological blow to them and it's that which saps a team's ability to perform much more than any perceived fatigue.

The gap between the end of the season and the CL final will be a hurdle for any English team, I think (if any get there).

Not so much if you are in the FA Cup final in between ;)
Imagine going into that fortnight as champions and league cup winners, with just two games to secure immortality. Just, say, United and Barcelona in our way...
