There are matrons. They are the ones in dark blue uniforms with red piping.Unfortunately there aren't Matrons any more, just well intentioned staff nurses, but they seem to be scared to tell the nursing assistants to get off their fat arses and do their jobs, like i said in my early post my wife is a nurse but she has worked in Research for the last 20 years and can't believe how things have changed on the wards
They were buzzing around when I was in A&E with my 96 year old Gran on Wednesday.

It’s a bizarre stick to beat nurses with. (Or anybody of any profession, really)

Doesn’t mean they don’t exist. It means you’ve not noticed one, which is understandable in your current situation.Haven't seen one on the wards from Monday to today

At least 3 of the 8 nurses I saw on Wednesday were, shall we say, rather portly. One even hooked me up. At all times they were polite, got on with their jobs and stayed on until 3 or 4 hours past their finish time.
But go ahead with your sweeping statements if it makes you happy.
