He's everything Dzeko should be. He'll give us Dzeko's goals but actually improve everyone's game around him too. Great signing.
What's that then? I'm sure Dzeko wouldn't do a straight swap for Bony's medal collection.

He'll be a good signing. I think £30m is steep, but it's not my money so fuck all to do with me. I see the press have stated with the outrageous wages as well, saying he's asking for £200k a week.

He can actually hold a ball up and bully defenders, I've seen him win a long ball. Which you'd think 6' 3'' brick shithouse Edin Dzeko should do but he doesn't. Dzeko's goals have been vital, I think Bony will match his numbers and get more goals out of the rest of the side.

Goal.com who are normally pretty spot on about City news are reporting £75k a week plus bonuses.

Probably with lower basic + very high bonuses as with our other players.

How do we get around FFP using this method ? Anyone explain if this is workable regarding low wages high bonuses

Our bonuses are excluded from FFP calculations (part of our settlement) as we 'hedge' against them, so that the club doesn't pay the cost for a successful season.

Not Cup tied from FA Cup

But the ACON is an issue. By the time he returns, we hopefully will have all our 3 strikers back.

And then what happens? Back to rotating 4 strikers? Or one goes in the Summer. Hopefully they all react positively.

I wonder whether Chelsea will react in the transfer market. I wouldn't have thought so.

I didn't think we'd do this deal in January with the CL limits, FFP, ACON and Aguero's suggested recovery schedule but maybe he has been a long term target that we have been tracking since Negredo left.

This deal should improve our chances of a trophy this season - a significant risk were the injuries up front. We've done brilliantly without Aguero but there have been signs recently that we have started to struggle

Look, there's nothing for it, we're going to have to put one of them down.

According to goal.com,they could only offer him the same wages as the outgoing nastacic, due to us agreeing not to increase the wage bill.

Bonuses do not count in FFP calculations. So what only counts is the lower basic salary, so as a result we have a lower wage bill.

Fucking hell, I was just about to say I don't think he is particularly overpriced in the current market. All players are arguably overpriced but 30 million for a proven Premier League goal scorer isn't ridiculous. But SSN have just said that we are close to agreeing a 50 million quid fee with Swansea. Wow, if that's true then that is overpriced.

The interesting bit of the article

'Under the terms of their Financial Fair Play restrictions City have agreed with Uefa not to increase their wage bill this season and are therefore only able to offer Bony the same salary as the outgoing Matija Nastasic, who has been in advanced talks with Schalke.'

Nasty was on £75,000 a week?!?!?!

Our owners and board know what they have to work with so im sure we won't be breaking any ffp rules! Great signing this takes a lot of the workload of sergio now knowing we can put someone in who will score goals when we decide to rest sergio!

Love it, thanks

How are bonuses not part of FFP - thats surely nonsense. Otherwise it would be easy to get round - Aguerro gets minimum wage a week but a £1m bonus for saying hello on the website

Also I doubt Nastasic is on £75k a week??

I'm not taking anything they say as gospel by any means but he said that he had just speaking to people at Swansea and the fee is going to be 50 million. He clarified it a couple of times as the fee. He could well be talking bollocks but he wasn't talking about a package including wages, he was talking about it from the Swansea angle of how much they were holding out for.

£75k a week......? That's £3.9m a year. Has the world gone fucking mad?

for the majority of premiership games , we will play 2 strikers , jovetic and aguero pick up their fair share of injuries , so bony is a great signing to assist dzeko . As far as the champs league squad goes , i would consider leaving navas out , and although he has been playing decent recently , his final ball and goalscroring record is not good enough against top european sides . With nasri, milner, silva and zabs and clichy bombing forward we have good cover for wide positions.

Maybe nasty isn't mate,I was quoting this....

Wilfried Bony is close to agreeing a cut-price £75,000-a-week deal to join Manchester City, Goal understands.

The Premier League champions began negotiations with Swansea, who value the player at £30 million, on Tuesday and are confident of beating off competition from both Liverpool and Tottenham for the striker’s services.

Under the terms of their Financial Fair Play restrictions City have agreed with Uefa not to increase their wage bill this season and are therefore only able to offer Bony the same salary as the outgoing Matija Nastasic, who has been in advanced talks with Schalke.

Both Swansea and Bony, who has been included in Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations squad, will earn significant bonuses based on City’s future success.

Manuel Pellegrini has turned his attentions to the 26-year-old in light of the injury problems that have plagued his frontline forwards this season.

Sergio Aguero’s electric start to the campaign has been curtailed by a knee injury suffered against Everton last month, while Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic have started just 14 Premier League games between them this term.

Pellegrini was even forced to play James Milner as an auxiliary striker during the recent 3-1 win over West Brom.

Bony, who joined Swansea from Vitesse Arnhem for a club-record £12m in 2013, has scored 35 goals in 70 appearances in all competitions for the Welsh side and will be available for the remainder of City’s Champions League campaign.

I think it's at their discretion John

If it wasn't then we could pay the players a quid a week and everything else be bonus related...

Having a poo = 40,000
