People say we've been playing better with one striker forget that we were on fire when Negredo and Aguero played together, in a way that Aguero and Dzeko aren't. So it's a question of playing the right pairing when we do play two up front. Aguero is very mobile while Bony would seem to be ideal to play the target man, a role that Dzeko doesn't really fulfil.

Having a striker who can take the ball with his back to goal and keep defenders occupied, while Aguero is on the move and occupies the other defenders, will give us a huge number of goal-scoring opportunities in my view.

Strangely enough it seems to be easy to forget that by this time last year we had two strikers on 50 goals between them and were just about to hit the fastest century of goals in history.

I think our best strikeforce this season has 23 goals, Silva and Aguero together have about 25.

How much will the Mail report it as, double? Perhaps they'll break the £200k mark?

Sun had 200k a week on back page today on BBC Gossip page. Yep we have brought our wages down hugely, now incentive based pay, major stars taken pay cuts (basic wage) but we are going to forget all that and start paying stupid wages again. Typical Sun

I don't think the problem has been the strikers when we have played two this season, the problem has been in midfield. Last year, Yaya and Fernandinho managed to work in a way that despite it putting pressure on us defensively, we could cope with it in most situations. This year, we've looked like conceding whenever we've played a midfield two and two strikers. It's been better since we played someone in the No 10 role and Yaya a tad deeper than he started the season.

Disappointed we've got the cheque book out again for such a large amount. We'll be seeing the "moneybags" tag come back to the headlines. Would like us to focus on youngsters in the future.
I like the moneybags tag tbh..it shows the hurt, jealousy and downright caffufleness of all the rag media darlings.

The film actor in the photo a few posts ago is Douglas "Cardew" Robinson, a comic who played "silly ass" roles in British comedy films of yesteryear, after a modest career as a stand-up comic on the variety halls. His nickname was taken from his character "Cardew the Cad", a bounder and all-round shifty personage as found in the public school tales unaccountably adored by working-class boys of the era.

Surely you've not forgotten him!

Anyone who fancies a wager, we're 3/1 with BWin on oddschecker right now to be the highest spenders in the January transfer window in the Premier League. With FFP meaning most clubs have used their budgets already and Swansea likely to hang on to any transfer fee until the summer, seems like a good bet to me, £30m or anywhere near should do it.

I think your're forgetting the rags war chest has yet to be opened; Ronaldo, Bale, Hummels, Fabregas, Vidal and Sneijder all to come in this January.

Haha I think we all know that they're going to sign at least one player, but even with the endless stories of £200m warchests, I don't think they'll be doing much business this January, certainly not £30m worth. I suppose someone could always come in and give Chelsea £150m for Jon Obi Mikel, but I htink that 3/1 is a cracking price, have to check funds but I'll try to get a few hundred on it if it looks like the Bony deal is going to go through. (might get a trip to Barcelona out of it).
