I'd have thought Swansea would not want people to know how much they have got to spend......surely they'll be looking to spend in this window

The Goal Reporter Paul Clennan who has been very accurate in the past says Bony has agree dwhat he calls "a cut-price deal" of 96k Euros which is less than half what the nationals are claiming.

City want the fee to be undisclosed, but Swansea want to announce it in terms of placating the fans (expect some wild fluctuations)

We do not want to telegraph our ongoing financial situation for this window, allowing clubs to crunch the numbers when it comes to buying from us.

It's a minor point but one being resolved.
Surely Swansea shouting from the rooftops saying they have £30 million will be bad for them in terms of getting players in for a reasonable fee?

Excuse me everyone but the glaringly obvious question about him has not been asked yet I'm sure.......

Can anyone hazard a guess what it is?

Should we call him Fred, since we already have Willy?

Does he like Cake? L
How about 'Charlie', and in Bony Prince Charlie?

Almost there then ! Are we expecting some kind of a confirmation today? I am guessing we must have agreed terms with Bony since he might have to leave.

It doesn't matter whether the rules were "changed" only the outcome matters. Sheikh Mansour pays top dollar to ensure these things don't happen, they happened, we dropped a bollock.
"Dropping a bollock" suggests it was something we could have avoided and we didn't, so it was our own fault.

Think of it this way, you're asked to go to the shop with a shopping list, one item on which is a shirt. Prior to leaving the house you're told that where the list says "shirt" what is meant is a red shirt, with short sleeves, with a 16 inch neck. You go to the shops, find the right shirtm buy it, and go home. When you arrive, you find that the guidance on the shirt has changed, now the shirt has to be blue, have long sleeves, and a 15 inch neck. Your wife is pissed off and won't cook your tea for the next week, as you got it wrong. Whose fault is this? You did everything you could do, and followed the guidance exactly. Did you "drop a bollock"?

That's a very simplified version of what happened here. The rules stayed the same (buy a shirt), however the guidance before buying the shirt is not the same guidance being used to assess whether the purchase meets the requirements.

Imagine a scenario when you score a perfectly good goal, but the linesman for whatever reason rules it offside, video technology shows that it was onside and should have stood, but nevertheless the goal is not given, the game is lost, and as a consequence we lose the league by one point, the manager is sacked, and after spending a year or so grubbing around for another club ends up managing a bunch of no hopers, relegation follows followed by heavy drinking, divorce and an early death.

You, the player, are sold at the end of the season, after unsuccessful spells at lower league clubs your career ends prematurely and a combination of substance abuse and gambling debts see you declared bankrupt.

The outcomes are there for all to see.

Nobody remembers or cares about the dodgy offside goal and even if you held their hand and led them back to it, seeing how it all joined up they'd not be bothered, what matters in business as in sport are the results of actions.

We failed to anticipate a change in the rules (if change there was), it's not our fault, no reasonable person could expect that! So what? That no reaonable person could expect that! It is what they did, and our guys in the Armani suits with their flow charts failed to predict it, that possibility passed them by.

In the end It does not matter who's fault it was. The outcome is we were fined under FFP, the only Premier League Club to be so fined and we not only suffered the financial consequences of it and the depleted CL squad, but it gave ammunition to our enemies to use it against us, however eroneously, in perpetuity as and when they choose, it is a monstrous bollock.
Absolute shite.

What's the point? Surely the people who need to know the numbers will find out anyway.

The only people who need to know the numbers are the respective directors of the two clubs.

Certainly not clubs subsequently coming to City trying to low ball for players because they know we have a net spend ceiling to maintain.

£30m is dear but not outlandish.

Since before Alf's injury, we've not had a pairing of skilful strikers who both move around a lot and scrap for every ball. That served us well in the first half of last season.

Put it this way: would you want to be a defender up against Kun and Bony?

It could be disclosed on 1/2/15 if it's a sticking point.

Fair play to Swansea for getting all of this out of the way and not dragging it out through January trying to have our pants down, hope they find a decent replacement with all that money.

As for Bony, looking forward to seeing him in a City shirt, hope he hits the ground running.

The only monstrous bollock that's been dropped is us putting up with your moronic trolling.

I hate it that our enemies in the media use FFP to pour scorn on what we're doing, but "moronic trolling"? What you mean is I don't love City enough? Or not the way you do?

And you're a moderator?
Don't patronise me. Yes I'm a moderator and I see someone derailing a thread when it's been explained to them very patiently by a number of people that the problem with FFP was that we were undone by a rule change that came out of the blue, that we couldn't possibly have foreseen and the timing of which made it impossible to do anything about as it related to accounts we'd already finalised and published.

If you want to spout your bollocks about this then do it in the FFP thread by all means. If you want to talk about Bony then stay in this thread. This is your final warning.

Nice refutation (look it up).

Disappointed we've got the cheque book out again for such a large amount. We'll be seeing the "moneybags" tag come back to the headlines. Would like us to focus on youngsters in the future.
