Will City be seen by Heart fans as Tan or Allam is here?

start of with the red and white stripes, but as the years go on make the white subtly change blue and the red stripes become thinner and thinner, then in 100 years it will be blue without the stripes, easy :)
Sneaky frog :)

Not comparable, Hull and Cardiff are over a hundred years old. Melbourne Heart were founded in 2009. A name change wouldn't be a problem, and I'm sure fans aren't that attached to a kit they've been wearing under 5 years.

don't know if you've visited yet but <a class="postlink" href="http://mhfcsupporters.com/topic/2442-melbourne-heart-fc-buy-out-man-city-melbourne-city-fc-etc/page-37#entry153340" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://mhfcsupporters.com/topic/2442-me ... ntry153340</a>
seems a lot of them are.

Hope we respect the fans wishes

So do I.

Even though I hate red, it's Heart's colour and if they want to keep it, we should go along with their wishes. I would hate to see HH Sheikh Mansour tarred with the same brush as Tan and Allam. We know he's not like that despicable pair and I hope he shows that to Heart supporters.

The issue about red and white is not simply because they are the colours of Melbourne City: they are the colours of Melbourne City because they are the colours of Melbourne and Melbourne didn't pop into existence a couple of years ago.

Does it matter whether any other team plays in sky blue? Teams in the same leagues all over the world use the same colours in configurations or designs more or less similar one to another. I couldn't care less if Sydney play in some sort of blue (or blue is identified with NSW in anyway). Why would you let Australian cockneys determine what you want?

Or compromise

Red and black stripes

Maroon

I've been on the Heart forums since the announcement, and they've made it pretty plain that even red and black would not be acceptable. It's red and white stripes, or nothing.

Melbourne Heart was only founded in 2009 and is in its 4th season of the A-league so it's not really comparable to Hull or Cardiff. A lot of clubs, including ourselves, changed colours and/or names in their early years after formation.

This is true, but (some of) their fans seem every bit as violently opposed to the change of colours. It's a bit different from when we did it back in the 1890s - back then there wasn't the strong association of colour with team identity. Now, there is.

4 years? Kits have changed in the past...depends if their rivals are Sky blue?

Sydney FC play in sky blue, and are considered their 2nd-strongest rivals. Their main rivals, Melbourne Victory, play in a navy blue which is close enough to condemn any shade of blue in their eyes. That said, they are willing to wear a sky blue away shirt.

Get them in something along 'City lines' from next season. If they're only a couple of years old it's not really a big issue changing colours in the grand scheme of things.

Offer anyone taking an old Heart shirt to the club a new shirt. Great PR job done.

I don't understand the rationale for changing their colours.

Is there some economic advantage or is it just an aversion to red and white? Is it really necessary for branding? Are ADUG/MCFC actively suggesting it or is it coming from City fans?

I accept I might have missed something but - If there isn't a powerful reason - it could well result in a negative response.
