Hundreds of shades of red. Just doesn't have to be bright scarlet.
went on mhfc fans forum, they seem to be happy with the tradional name "city" and most are happy to change names, some don't care what colours they play in,and some are not happy about changing colours, one solution was to change the kit to the old fa cup final shirt, sorry I haven't a clue how to put a pic up,its the maroon and white stripe one.
Yeah, I was involved in suggesting that. As far as I could see, none of them responded to the idea.
About 20% of them would
be happy accept some form of change of colours. The other 80% are quite determined to stick to red and white stripes. I don't think a compromise is on the cards. They'd be equally unhappy with maroon or red and black stripes as they would with sky blue.
Basically what it comes down to is this: Melbourne Victory, when the A-League first started up, were given a 5-year exclusivity to build a fanbase in Melbourne. When that period came to an end, the A-League promptly added a second team - the Heart. Because of this, the Victory fans have been quick to leap on the "you have no history, you're just a cheap knock-off eating our bread-crumbs, you're just designed to make us look even better" line - not at all different to the rag fans telling us that we have no history. Consequently, Heart fans are quite determined to build an identity so that they can stare down their rivals and feel proud for doing so, and keeping their colours is an important aspect of this to them. The name change is more palatable as "Heart" strikes them as an Americanisation, and they are as opposed to Americanised names as we are.
