Will Gundogan ever get the credit and love he deserves?

After an injury ridden first season he was absolutely on fire in the league cup against West Brom, which is probably the closest we ever saw of the “Dortmund Ilkay” an absolutely shocking tackle practically ended his season, and could have ended his career. The way he has come back from that is a huge testament to his determination, his football intelligence, City’s injury management, and the clubs belief in him.

What Ilkay gives us is an unerring ability to keep the ball, he is our ticker, nothing particular fancy just clever. He also scores his share.

Will he ever be given the credit he rightly deserves as one of in my opinion best ever players.

Yep, been an amazing buy and he just keeps getting better and better.

On the football field he has a great football intelligence and makes the game look easy, off field seems a brilliant bloke and has been involved in many local charities and deserving causes.

Can’t be forgotten and due to his easy nature he makes very little of it, but that performance against Villa told everyone if there were ever any doubt, Ilkay is a baller as the young fans like to say, pure class in every way, love him.
 
Not as flamboyant and eye catching as KDB and that’s probably where he struggles for recognition. Silva was quite similar in that he doesn’t take your breath away like Kev does. That said, he’s very highly rated by fans of other clubs.
 
The Villa game highlighted his ability, but not his stock in trade. He has always been a brilliant player, but is so low key that it is often overlooked. Look at what Gundo has achieved and compare it to Pogba’s career. Night and day “profiles” but no guessing who I would rather have in my team!

And, a top, top PERSON, which is usually where we excel in our player selection. Certainly did well with Gundo!
