One of those players who only seems to be noticed when he's not there, similar to GazBaz, but always seems to appear at crucial moments and tip the balance in our favour.
Yeah, remember in that game he seemed to be able to run away from people. Not to say he’s not been able to beat people since but that game he still seemed to have a turn of pace. After an injury ridden first season he was absolutely on fire in the league cup against West Brom, which is probably the closest we ever saw of the “Dortmund Ilkay” an absolutely shocking tackle practically ended his season, and could have ended his career. The way he has come back from that is a huge testament to his determination, his football intelligence, City’s injury management, and the clubs belief in him.
Every time I see or hear an ice cream van I think of this legend!I guess when you're given the nickname Mr Whippy, you have reached the heights of love and recognition from supporters.
I think he will make a great Manager. He has something about him you don’t see in many players. Perfect tactical nous, spatial awareness, coolness. I honestly believe he will be elite level as a Manager somewhere. Perhaps we should keep him as Assistant to whoever replaces Pep.The guy is pure class - both on and off the field. Being able to play at this stellar level after the injuries he has sustained throughout his career is a testament to Gundog's intelligence and perseverance.
How can he be underappreciated by any City fan is beyond me.

Fantastic natural and intelligent footballer
From who, the fans or the pundits/media?In my humble opinion, he is one of the best signings we have ever made, he makes the game look so easy.
He doesn't have the flair of David Silva, the raw power of Yaya, the defensive nous of Fernandinho, the vision of Kev ( BUT WHO DOES)!
What Ilkay gives us is an unerring ability to keep the ball, he is our ticker, nothing particular fancy just clever. He also scores his share.
Will he ever be given the credit he rightly deserves as one of in my opinion best ever players.
