Seriously though, the reason one of ours havent gotten it earlier, is because weve been such a solid unit where you could vote for like 5 of our players and you wouldnt be far off. Like the year Salah won, KdB was clearly our best player but Sterling, Kun, David, Sane was excellent as well. 2012, when Van Persie(?) won votes on City players where probably spread on Sergio, Yaya, Vinny, Merlin and maybe even Hart.
The only year I find somewhat dodgy is 2014, when Yaya had that colossus season, but then again Suarez was probably the single most impressive one-man team season in Premier League history, scoring 30+ goals despite being suspended for large chunk of the season and not being on penalty duties.
If you look at the other teams that have won the league this decade, then Bale got in 2013 despite Van Persie basically winning the league on his own. When Leicester had the season they had driven by mostly three individuals it would be blasphemy not giving it to one of them. And the Chelsea sides that one titles had basically one main playmaker and that was Hazard, all though I think Kante won it one season, which doesnt really make sense but I think that was more of a reward for 2 brilliant seasons being part of 2 title winning sides.
My point is its seems like its more a case of rewarding players that has lifted team on their own, and not a media driven campaign against us. All our title winning sides has been filled with stand-out performers so I think we should take it as a compliment that we have never won it.
If KdB form continues I think our likely 2nd place finish will help him win it, more than being the best player in the most dominant side.
Still think Mane will win it though lol
