Thats pretty much what will happen.

Nevertheless he's the best player in the world right now.

As for the "Best ever" status now that would be pretty debatable. I rate maradona higher but again thats just my opinion.

Cruyff may not have won the World Cup but he was the star player at the 74 finals and narrowly lost the final. Pele won in 58 and 70 and Maradona was the star man in 86 and reached another final in 1990.

Success in a World Cup Finals has a huge impact on the legacy left by the all time greats.

That's why if Messi could inspire Argentina he would be propelled into that bracket of players. Whether that will happen or not though I don't know. Looking forward to watching him and Carlos this afternoon though.
