Will Mondays game be called off?

It's well and truly gone off in Manchester, all public transport cancelled within a 2 mile radius, miss selfridge burnt out and rumours of selfridges n next at the arndale on fire. Arndale itself smashed up. Salford precinct raided and salford Uni evacuated, eccles targeted...not looking good gents..

Arndale was not smashed up at all. It's sealed off. A few shops smashed up.

I live on Deansgate. There are small numbers of young kids on bikes smashing phone shops and the like. Arndale is not on fire. At the moment it's small scale, but at the moment the worry is that it's only 9 o'clock and it could get a lot worse.

No way could game be played whilst Police are stretched, but maybe the only night of trouble. Other areas had their spree. Now it's Manchester's turn.

If we had a community so to speak, we'd go down there and leather them

I could not agree more if it involved burning Fergie at the bar.

Is it not as bad as being made out then Marvin (genuine question)? The warnings we got in work were that its bad, and according to BBC news there was approx 2000 scrotes gathering at piccadilly gardens. I know that boots, footasylum, swarovski, diesel, a cash place and a few of the oldham st stores have been done. Noticed rags calling for the city store to be done in on Twitter...I live in eccles n noticed a load of scumbags heading for centre of eccles where the cash converter has been done and a mate in stockport txt me saying he's heard its starting there.

Remembering the numbers they put on the rags parade I'd say that means about 100 in total. ;-)

No chance of being called off. The only riot will be in the Swansea goal.

Fucking joke...

I haven't been out since about 7pm, but I reckon about 300 moving around different parts of the City Centre with a lot of kids in tow just watching

They've been targeting the "smart" shops. Armani at Spinningfields (near me) that's as far as I ventured. Unless it's got a lot worse since I came home, it's not so bad.

I don't understand how they can move so freely from one place to another. if it was demonstrators they'd have kettled them and kept them in one place. The police just stand at strategic spots and watch

Well, this is in the Mirror.

Manchester City: “We are confident and prepared for any incidents, but are not expecting any heightened tensions for Monday’s visit of Swansea.”

A few hundred people have done a lot of damage

They just go from one shop to another and the Police just stand their at junctions and chase them off to the next spot. I don't think they want to arrest anyone. Spectator sport great for the media

The cynic in me says that the police's apparent "hands-off" approach is so that enough damage is done so the government is forced to reverse the planned cuts in police numbers.

If it does get cancelled maybe all 48,000 supporters should head into Piccadilly to "Police" the evening. I'd love to see these sad little hoodies when thousands of football fans decend on them, can you imagine the number of soiled grundies! :D
